What to buy an 11 year old boy!

Hello!

Feeling totally flummoxed over what to buy 11 year old DS for Christmas, not helped by the fact it's his birthday next week so I need loads of ideas!!

We've asked him and he says he's happy and doesn't want anything. All lovely, but I can't get him nothing!!

I've bought him a T-shirt and his DB has bought him aftershave ( as he's always stealing his!)

He likes geography, writing ( not stories) , cycling ( doesn't need a bike ) . He has an Xbox but isn't massively into it so I'm reluctant to buy anything for it, or encourage him to get into it!!

He has a 16 year old " cool" brother so likes to think he's older than he is. Due to this he likes clothes - any brands I can look at? His brothers brands are a little old really.

Help please!

We got my 11yr old nephew a Kiwi co box subscription last year which went down well, it sends little projects to make every month?
Or if he doesn't want things how about vouchers for days out to theme parks/concert/ cinema/costa/ favourite restaurant? or a magazine subscription for national geographic/cycling magazine if that's what he's into

Why not just give him some money in a savings account for when there is something he wants? He doesn't sound like the type who appreciates 'stuff' just for the sake of it.

If he likes geography, I bought DS a huge 40" x 54" world map from The Works yesterday. It was reduced from £9.99 to £4 so I snapped one up for Christmas.

AddictedtoCrunchies · 02/12/2019 14:35

I've bought my 11 year old trainers, football socks, wellies, t shirt, tracksuit bottoms, chocs, drinks bottle, football boots, Lego (a particular one he wanted), bobble hat, book and a base layer. He's also getting a new (2nd hand) bed.

His birthday is 31 January so I feel your pain. Birthdays are generally money or a trip out somewhere.

Hype have a sale on until tonight (I think), my dd’s like their hoodies and jogging bottoms, lots of their friends seem to wear hype hoodies and back packs.

My 11yo wants a huge tub of sweets and wireless headphones. Also clothes and trainers and the new pokemon game.

BellaBraithwaite · 02/12/2019 19:03

This is in parts a niche list but you may glean something from it. It's for my just turned 13 year old DS

Elite x box controller
SH Figuarts figures
Various coins from the royal mint
Garmin watch
Bird feeder
Velvetiser
Overwatch light
Battleship game
Puma rucksack
Scratch map
Slipper boots
Money maze

horseymum · 02/12/2019 19:05

Rubik's cube? They have some new ones out. Are you near a velodrome and can do a track cycling experience?

ThrilledToTiddlyBits · 02/12/2019 19:06

Mine is 11 in December so same boat as you!

He's getting a phone for his birthday, keyboard for Christmas (mains). He also has 2 x PS4 games, heelies, football kit & astro boots, elbow and knee pads for his scooter, Rubiks Race game, football trainer belt, a magazine subscription (science+nature) a harmonica, new Tom Gates and Diary of a Wimpy Kid books, a 3d puzzle, Fortnite blanket plus stocking stuff.

He also asked for a metal detector, a laptop, RC car, guitar, lego & some other stuff I've forgotten... some of which may be outsourced to grandparents but mostly not. For once he had a decent list, usually he can't think of anything and we really struggle but this year we've had to cut him off 😂

namechangenumber2 · 02/12/2019 19:50

Thanks do much everyone!

@brieandchilli , that list is amazing! DS would love all of them
