Kids won’t say what they want from Santa

My 8 year old has given me a list of ideas of what he would like for Christmas, but he wants to keep what he wants from Santa a secret. Not sure why, possibly testing to see if he is real? He sent an email to Santa thrift a webpage, but he wouldn’t let me see what he was asking for, then closed the page after so I couldn’t look. My 6 year old is now copying him and won’t say what he wants (but he keeps changing his mind every 5mins anyway).
We are going to see Santa next Sunday so am hoping to hear then, but I want to get shopping!
They know they only get a small gift from Santa, but I don’t want to let them down or ruin the magic of Christmas Confused.

I'd stick with saying that Santa likes to have ideas but might give them something different.

My 8 year old has done this but is clearly more trusting. He wrote a letter but told me not to look at it as he wants me to be surprised on Christmas day. I did look of course Blush

It could be a test, I think for DS this will be his last Christmas that he still believes. A lot in his class don't already.

Was it an actual email he sent? Can you not look at the sent mail folder?

When they see Santa, send an elf in to find out what was said and let you know. I’ve done this in the past when mine were keeping Santa lists secret.

No it wasn’t from my email it was through a webpage. Tried going back onto it but it had cleared. Thought it would send a copy to my email but it didn’t.

Could you recruit your 6 year old to ask the 8 year old what he’s asked for?

Do they have a school fete with a santa that you could ask after he has visited.

My son did this age 8, it was brinkmanship to see if I'd bend and admit santa wasn't real and that I just got everything. Fortunately at the time his interests were fairly easy to identify! Sorry I'm not much help Grin

My daughter tried this when she started doubting. I said she had to write a letter and it was fine for her to not to show me. I said she could post it too. Once letter was written I had an opportunity to steam it open before she posted. 😁
