DSD is 15, 16 early next year. I have a £200 budget roughly and I'm really struggling. I've sorted her siblings presents with no trouble but I'm a little bit stuck here.

Her siblings all have 8 presents each. One is something chocolatey and one is a pair of PJs. The other 6 presents are to each individuals tastes. Haven't spent the same amount on them but they will all have roughly same amount to unwrap.

What I know about DSD: DSD uses TikTok quite a lot. She has insta but posts more obscure images rather than generic selfies. She uses unusual borders and frame, strange filters and does somewhat unusual make up in her images.

She has asked for a Fjallraven Kanken backpack in pastel pink.

I also wondered about getting her an instax mini 9 with case etc but I'm doubting myself now.

When we asked what she wanted, besides the backpack she has just asked for 'cute pastel pink things', tried digging a bit and she sent links to gummy bear earrings, a pastel pink hoodie with Japanese kawaii cute stuff on the front of it, a Japanese style pink plaid short skater skirt thing. The links were all to US sites though rather than UK and all with hefty price tags on.

So, I'm looking for ideas for a 15 y/o who likes pastel pink, anime, kawaii, tik tok

Top from sweaty betty?

ivoryaardvark · 24/11/2019 09:59

Urban Outfitters is your best shout ! If you get the Polaroid camera you can get film with different funky patterns on the border and a cute Polaroid album to store them in too. Crosley record players are popular too and you could get a few records too. Etsy will have obscure earrings and you could get something personalised from there.

ivoryaardvark · 24/11/2019 10:02

Also for backpack you could order cute badges which is also in style now to have those on your bag

WhereverIMayRoam · 24/11/2019 10:05

It’s worth checking if the stuff she’s linked is available in the UK. Amazon have gummy bear earrings pretty cheap. this place seems to have lots of kawaii clothing.

dementedpixie · 24/11/2019 10:12

www.tokyotoys.com this is uk based

Thanks for the tips! Will get looking.

Frustratingly, I was pretty much sorted.

I was going to get her:

Kanken Pink Backpack
Kawaii Enamel Pin Badges

(Both of which she asked for) -

Then I was going to get her,

Instax Mini 9 with Case and Extra Shots.

Pjs and Chocolates.

Then I just wanted to find two more cheaper gifts to go with all of the above. Thought I had it in the bag!

Then I got cold feet about getting the camera as it wasn't something she asked for, just an idea I had and i worried she wouldn't actually like it. Especially when I then asked what else she wanted besides the backpack and pins and she just said more cute kawaii, pink pastel stuff like clothing earrings, badges, etc. And I can't afford to do that AND the camera.

I remember ordering pin badges, keyrings and washi tape (had never heard of it before) last year that came from etsy and other strange websites, for dd last year

Cherryrainbow · 24/11/2019 10:42

I'm pretty sure there's a subscription box for kawaii kind of stuff for girls if you have a look online there's a few you could look at x

Trenzal · 24/11/2019 10:45

Last year we got her an anime cosplay outfit with a wig, (have often seen the wig make an appearance in her tik tok videos), Japan candy and japanese ramune soda set. She did say she'd like some ramune soda again. So, she clearly still likes the japanese culture but it's more pastel pink and kawaii this year.

She sounds awesome Grin

As I was reading your post I thought ‘she’d love an instax’ so I think you are bang on with this idea!

SuperLoudPoppingAction · 24/11/2019 15:27

Could you go to a local Asian grocery store for eg pocky sticks?
And local anime shop to see if they have any nice clothing etc

IHeartKingThistle · 24/11/2019 15:32

A blippo surprise bag? I think you can get sweets, stationery or a mix, all Japanese stuff.

EnglishRose1320 · 24/11/2019 15:43

I think I'd get her

The backpack, if you haven't got it yet this seems to be the best price [[https://www.outdoorgear.co.uk/Fjallraven-Kanken-Backpack-sku54140000.asp?gclid=CjwKCAiA8ejuBRAaEiwAn-iJ3gs3dNRCZQSvG2N5kHIJrunFs4MlIes6MOH0vUf2OYCKDsAkm1cTRRoCt4cQAvD_BwE]]

Then PJ's and chocs like the others

Then I'd stick to the Instax Mini 9, sounds like she would like it. Urban outfitters are selling a pink pastel one with some extras, not the cheapest deal but would suit the colours she likes. Think you can also get 10% off if you sign up to their mailing list.

Then I'd get her the earrings she has mentioned and a couple of small kawaii things. A mix of some things she has asked for and a couple of nice surprises.

A ticket to Comic Con? They are mostly in London, but I think there are others around the country.

Makesmilingyourbesthobby · 24/11/2019 15:51

Cosplay outfits, wig, tiara, fairy wings cat ears and other animal ears and tails, make up, knee high socks and skater skirts, chokers
Mogi mogis

marialuisa · 24/11/2019 16:03

Pretty little thing have plain pale pink hoodies for about £15

But agree Urban Outfitters is best bet and good for cute stuff

SarBear1980 · 24/11/2019 17:01

I am not a parent of a teen girl but am a secondary school teacher and my girls are mad for Korean beauty stuff from Superdrug and Make Up Revolution again from Superdrug in strange sweet like cases...I have to say I also like Revolution but not in the doughnut and sweet boxes!!

Trenzal · 24/11/2019 18:09

I feel like at 23 I should be way more in the know but I didn't even know what Urban Outfitters was until you lot mentioned it! I'll have a sit down tonight and get googling all your fab suggestions. Will also check superdrug for the beauty things. Thanks!

Chilli water bottles for school are apparently all the rage. I bought one for my 14 year old god daughter

actiongirl1978 · 24/11/2019 21:25

Have a look at Brandy Melville, it's apparently the in place according to my 16yr old relative

Dollymixture22 · 24/11/2019 21:25

Good deals on the back pack in John Lewis - I bought one today for £64

Which is ridiculously expensive for a back pack😊

actiongirl1978 · 24/11/2019 21:26

Also, I got my daughter the Instax last year, the quality of the pics isn't great and it only got used a few times.

Chillys bottle a good idea though.

CamdenTownie · 24/11/2019 21:30

I'd go with your first idea and get the instax, not great quality but the girls love them.

My DD's favourite shop is UO and Etsy comes a close second.

Also the blippo surprise bag would go down well.

Sounds like a Fantastic selection of gifts for a 15 year old girl.

mollymandyandypandy · 24/11/2019 21:35

Mother of 16 year old here. Defo Urban Outfitters and Brandy Melville. Don't buy cheap makeup and perfume (not that you would) but introduce to better quality - less is more for example you can have a Bobbi Brown makeover for £30 and if you buy a product it is offset so the makeover is free.
