Need ideas for my dad!

I'm really struggling. We buy books and he never gets round to reading them. Bought him an audible subscription last year but he didn't use all the credits. (Knew he wouldn't)
He doesn't watch much TV so Netflix wouldn't be worth it. Doesn't drink, doesn't wear aftershave or jewellery.
Any ideas? He's 68.

I struggle with my dad too - shirt ? CD for the car ? Day out with you and your family ?

A day out is a great idea. Will give that some thought. Though they are so busy now they are retired, they are impossible to pin down!

I didn't want to presume he was in a couple but as he is how about a joint present - night away including a meal ? Canal barge trip ? There are some great deals on groupon and wowcher usually. Theatre tickets ?

He and my mum are joined at the hip. I bought them membership of the RSC a few years ago. So I've suggested that again, it's his birthday in January so that could be a joint present. If he feels it's worthwhile. (Always best to check with them!)

I've bought my dad a wallet ninja and some Clinique for men stuff so far. I feel your pain, mine is impossible!

WagtailRobin · 24/11/2019 01:49

A multipurpose tool such as the Wallet Ninja, maybe alongside a new wallet? Or perhaps a meal voucher for a local restaurant for him and your mum as a joint gift? A hamper full of nice food treats?

This is a very helpful thread: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/Christmas/3735841-Can-we-have-a-men-s-gifts-thread

Problem solved. I've got him a mouse mat with a picture of a lifeboat from a place that he likes and some lifeboat fuel. They are big supporters of the RNLI. I didn't realise they still did virtual gifts!

@WagtailRobin the wallet is a sore point. I bought him one a couple of years ago, and noticed he didn't use it. It lives in the car, and has membership cards in. I was not overly impressed as it wasn't cheap!! Though not as under impressed as my sister, when she discovered the blanket she spent months crocheting had been given to the cat. "Because he likes it"!!
