Christmas Tree, too early to put up?

Usually put up first weekend in Dec, so that being a week tomorrow. However, have got a new one for this year & really itching to get it up to see how it looks, but have never put an Xmas tree up in November! I dug out the baubles the other day & a few have broken, I’m thinking I may have to get more anyway. Has anyone else got their tree up? Maybe I can I wait another week 😁

It's four weeks too early for me. Mine's going up on Saturday 21st.

FloraGreysteel · 23/11/2019 14:45

Good lord, yes! At least wait until December.

Thehagonthehill · 23/11/2019 14:51

Mine will go up in the week before Christmas.I stays up until 12th night.I love the smell of the pine needles and the lights and after Christmas, with no rushing around is the perfect time to enjoy it while polishing off the left over alcohol.

BiteyShark · 23/11/2019 15:04

I feel like a PP in that the build up is far better than the actual day and looking at a sparkly lit tree brightens the house.

ysmaem · 23/11/2019 16:07

Not to early! Mine are up and so many people have also put theirs up too! X

dontlickthelamp · 23/11/2019 16:08

Definitely not! Do it

Shesalittlemadam · 23/11/2019 16:27

@linentowel advent crap

What an utterly disgusting thing to say.... You do realise what Christmas is about don't you? Not just tinsel love! ConfusedHmm

Leflic · 23/11/2019 16:48

Mmm, if saying “advent is bollocks” is “ absolutely disgusting”, I seriously suggest you get out in the world a bit more.

It’s a bit early. It’s five weeks. Can’t you just put some nice lights up fir the time bring and enjoy Christmas when it’s actually Christmas ( not November).

MinisterforCheekyFuckery · 23/11/2019 17:23

Your house, your tree, your choice. It doesn't really matter if anyone on MN thinks it's "too early". They can do what they want in their home, as you can in yours.

NoWordForFluffy · 23/11/2019 17:48

I've seen a few trees up today. They made me smile. I'm doing the big pre-Christmas clean tomorrow ready for the tree going up next Sunday. It would've been Saturday, but we're out doing a Santa train, so it has to be the day after.

youvegottobekidding · 23/11/2019 20:43

Okay so mixed responses then!

I want to see what it’s like because it’s a new one from a supermarket. But I want a wicker skirt for it which I haven’t got yet anyway so i’m going to wait till I’ve got that this week. I just hope it’s as good as the reviews!

Bollocks to all this advent crap

Would you say the same to anyone discussing preparations for Eid, Ramadan or Passover, or can only Christian festivals be insulted?

nakedavengeragain · 24/11/2019 08:06

Ha ha. As if Xmas trees have ANYTHING to do with Christianity. Indeed as if most of the enjoyable stuff has anything to do with it. Of course advent is bollocks. Crack on though if you believe on it

OP 5 weeks beforehand is ridiculously early. Second week in December

TrickyD · 24/11/2019 08:57

But she didn't say 'Bollocks' to Christmas trees', she said 'Bollocks to advent', which has a lot to do with Christianity.

Isadora2007 · 24/11/2019 09:04

There’s a lot to be said for the ability to delay gratification- it’s a skill that so may younger people are really missing now due to our ability to get instant everything. So actually there is a bit of harm in just doing whatever you want whenever you want when your kids don’t ever learn to wait for things.

beckyvardy · 24/11/2019 09:37

Mine goes up around the first of December but I take it down either New Year's Eve or New Year's Day.

PetitsGateaux · 24/11/2019 17:22

I understand, I’m so looking forward to it!
But I’ll wait until the kids are in bed on Saturday night, then decorate the tree to a soundtrack of Christmas music and fueled by Baileys 😆
Then when the kids get up on Saturday, they can have their advent calendars and decorate the little tree in their room with the decorations they’ve made.

boobot1 · 24/11/2019 18:15

Do what makes you happy. I couldn't care less if people put them up in June. EnjoyGrin
