Just wondering where everyone gets their christmas wrapping paper from? I can't seem to find any nice ones this year!

I always buy mine in the sale, after last Christmas I got some from the card factory and Asda.
My current plan is to use up what I have and next year use brown paper and twine/ribbon to be more environmentally friendly.

Bunney2020 · 22/11/2019 10:25

Brown Paper and Newspaper here. Kids and decorate it and it’s not polluting the environment.

ritzbiscuits · 22/11/2019 10:37

Ikea as it's 100% paper and actually can be recycled. I've got a lovely brown set with Santa hat, snowmen and mountains on.

Lovemusic33 · 22/11/2019 12:03

I have bought some from Ikea, some from studio (which is too thin) and some from Lidl, I saw some nice paper in Matalan yesterday, they have quite a big selection.

NormaLouiseBates · 22/11/2019 12:41

Same as @IggyAce I always get mine in the January sales as I can get much nicer stuff than I could afford if it was full price. Previous years I've bought Cox & Cox (absolutely beautiful, everyone was most impressed lol) and M&S. This year I've got some from Paperchase and it's really lovely quality.

MutedUser · 22/11/2019 12:42

Lidl

TheHodgeoftheHedge · 22/11/2019 12:46

I hadn't even thought of Ikea!

Sainsbury's - for the last few years, I've bought them for 50p just after Xmas.

I like to see lots of different type of paper, gift boxes and bags under our tree.

areyouafraidofthedark · 22/11/2019 12:52

Costco.

uncomfortablydumb53 · 22/11/2019 12:54

Sainsbury's Last year for 50p per roll
I like it as it has squares on the back for cutting straight

PrettyShiningPeople · 22/11/2019 12:56

WHSmith usually have a good selection of designs

GrumpyHoonMain · 22/11/2019 13:00

Wilko do great paper.

KittensInABasket · 22/11/2019 13:02

Oxfam. Nice designs and why not let a charity have a cut of the money you were already spending?

WagtailRobin · 22/11/2019 14:34

I might be in the minority here but I don't spend a lot of money buying expensive wrapping paper because as far as I am concerned it is senseless when it ends up ripped and binned anyway.

This year I have bought 3 rolls of Star Wars Christmas paper in the Heart Foundation charity shop for £1 a roll, £5 in an Oxfam shop for 4 rolls of different designs and I have also bought 8 packets of 10 sheets in the Card Factory for £1 a packet, alongside another 3 rolls in gold, silver and red with stars for £1 a roll. I also don't give a lot for gift bags/boxes, I have bought all I need of those from Card Factory and The Works.

Next year I will definitely be switching to brown paper/twine!

FinallyGotAnIPhone · 22/11/2019 14:36

Costco

Topbird29 · 22/11/2019 14:43

I like the m & s longer rolls - £6 for 14m, and on 3 for 2. Still got loads left from getting 3 rolls a couple of years back. And not glittery or shiny, so can be recycled

sweetheart · 22/11/2019 14:57

I'm going for brown paper this year with candy cane twine / ribbon. Pintrest has loads of ideas for making it look really pretty and it's recyclable.

hopeishere · 22/11/2019 17:58

M&S but I'm going going to get individual sheets this year if I can rather than big rolls.

WinkyisbackontheButterBeer · 22/11/2019 18:03

Can I ask where people have bought brown paper and twine from? All of the brown paper that I have seen is small rolls.

Thanks.

barney11 · 22/11/2019 18:20

You can buy brown paper in lots of different widths from ebay.

17caterpillars1mouse · 22/11/2019 18:36

This year I've got the children's from next (Peter rabbit)

Then one with penguins on from sainsburies, one with nutcracker on from b&m then I picked up some with foxes on in March at the local garden centre (they always have nice paper but it's really expensive unless half price)

I have struggled this year too though. Tesco usually have some nice, but none I'm feeling this year.

Oh my local coop have some nice children's paper by the tills too

TheHodgeoftheHedge · 22/11/2019 18:39

Oh glad it’s not just me 17Caterpillars!

Don’t suppose anyone has seen any retro, 70’s style paper have they?

TheCanterburyWhales · 22/11/2019 18:52

I am a wrap-aholic and it's one of the best bits of Christmas for me.

In previous years I've had Cox and Cox (but am in Italy and they've upped their postage costs to a stupid and extortionate amount of money so they can fuck off) and Paperchase - this year they have few new designs so I've gone back to John Lewis who have some nice stuff and it's always good quality. M&S have been disappointing over the last few years.
Wilko is highly underrated IMO- always good quality and nice designs.
Jumpy- I'm also a vintage-holic and pick it up from Ebay. I've got sheets of old stuff that I don't use, but take out and look at to be transported back to my nan's on Christmas morning Smile
Last year I did get a roll or two of "retro" from Paperchase.
