Dd is going to be 6 two weeks before Christmas, she has a sister who is two years older and so has inherited all the books and toys she doesn’t use any more.

She has no idea what she wants and keeps saying “surprise me mummy”.
I’m pulling my hair out over what to get her, we will get some craft bits and dressing up because I know she’ll love both but I would really like to get her a main Xmas and birthday present too.
We were thinking some sort of MP3 player but because everything is streamed now getting actual music onto them is a pain. Possibly a 3D drawing pen but worried it’s gimmicky and won’t get used after a while.
Any and all suggestions welcome!

As someone who inherited a lot of toys, clothes and books I loved it when I got something brand new even if it was already in the house. One year my parents sold my sister’s old bike and I got a brand new one, it is such a good feeling not always been given a hand me down.

How about an experience like zoo keeper, workshop or tickets to a children’s play without the big sister.

Magazine subscription

Something for her room like a lava lamp? Desk?

Proper watch, nice first handbag and matching purse

MP3 player is a good idea. DD got an iPod touch at 6 and listens to music all the time (now 8).

Scooter/bike
Barbie house
Sylvanian families
Zoo keeper for a day
Disney on ice tickets
Musical tickets

Little dressing table
Musical jewellery box
Space hopper
Disco ball for bedroom

I know your pain - my ds birthday is 23rd December! 😩

I like the idea of an experience day and magazine subscription, she loves sylvanians but has absolutely loads.
Has anyone got any good ideas for magazine subscriptions? We already get national geographic.

The Crayola tracing light box has been a big hit in our house and is currently half price in Argos www.argos.co.uk/product/8459907
My Dd also loved her colouring-in top from Selfie Clothing Co www.selfieclothing.co.uk/childrens-colour-in-craft-gifts/
Instead of a magazine subscription, I highly recommend a cooking subscription box www.littlecooksco.co.uk

How about a subscription to the Sylvanian Families fan club? That comes with a magazine too.

We had Lego Friends for a year which DD liked. A mix of comic, building, crafts.

A scooter, or a skateboard.
Swingball.
Badminton set.
New bedding, beanbag, cushions.

I keep seeing subscription to science kits advertised online. They send a new experiment every month in a parcel

I'd recommend the Little Cooks Co subscription too - they have a gifting page on their website and you can select your shipping date and leave a handwritten gift note for free: www.littlecooksco.co.uk/gift-a-box/

DD was 6 last week. She had the new v-tech secret diary (which she loved) along with lots and lots of craft sets and books! For Christmas I have bought her the big Lego friends fairground set, and my dad has bought her the Leapfrog ‘magic adventures’ globe. She’s also asked for a Smiggle rucksack.

My dc is a similar age and asks for surprises- it's so hard! How about a subscription activity box or something? We have had kiwi and they are really good - definitely dd's favourite gift last year! (We had one delivered before Xmas and wrapped it up). This year I've bought my DD a Melissa and Doug weaving loom which I'm hoping she'll like!
