There’s definitely a stigma about buying secondhand and I thought it’d be nice to share the things we’ve managed to pick up preloved!
Whether it’s to have a more conscious Christmas or to save money, what have you managed to get secondhand so far?
This is what I’ve managed to find so far.(Photo has hopefully attached!)

Just managed to win a used once and as new condition game of Operation for DD - hoping it's as good as pictures/description make it as it cost less than half RRP :)

I managed to get DS7 a Battle Action Millenium Falcon worth £130 for £30 on FB marketplace. It’s in great condition and he will be thrilled with it.

I got some gorgeous Grimms wooden toys for the baby, which I'm especially pleased about as they are so expensive new. The little people in cups for £18, mushrooms for £6 and stacking cups for £12. Plus a brand new in box set of musical instruments for £5.50.

My other kid is getting a Roald Dahl treasury in excellent condition for £10, a wooden clock for £3.

Buying second hand is ace!!

Plus I sold lots of our older stuff on eBay and gumtree to fund this year's presents!

BatleyTownswomensGuild · 21/11/2019 18:50

Last year a bought a ton of Brio track from our local charity shop. Massive job-lot for a fiver. Really saved us some money and bulked our DS's train paraphernalia.

Haven't seen anything second hand yet that I think would be good. Although a couple of DS's stocking fillers (slime and a bath bomb) have come from raffle prizes.

BatleyTownswomensGuild · 21/11/2019 18:51

Also bought a micro-scooter for £4 last month. Obviously second hand as it's covered in stickers but DS absolutely loves it!

I picked up a huge bundle of Shopkins figures on eBay for £20 to go with a mall set that dd2 is getting Smile

BlueEyedFloozy · 24/11/2019 09:34

Also bagged myself a new (unwanted) Molton Brown bubble bath gift set and a fully furnished Shopkins Happy Home with an extension today - Saved about £80 between them as got both for £30 :o

I think it is fabulous to buy second hand for children's presents. They literally do not care and you're doing your bit for your pocket but also the planet. I bought a skittles game of In The Night Garden for a fiver on FB Marketplace this week....DS2 will love it. I have also bought DS1 a Little Tykes cube slide for £20. It's £100 new and it was in perfect condition, just needed a clean. I would literally rather buy these big hunks of plastic second hand... they're usually in good nick, easy to clean/sterelise and you save all of that plastic being thrown away.

I have managed to get my son a Build a Bear Paw Patrol Skye with complete outfit from eBay. It looks like its never even been played with. He will be so excited, he won't have wanted to do the whole Build a Bear experience due to the crowds and noise of the machines (he is autistic) but he loves Skye and cuddly toys.

I have second hand books for my husband and mum and a second hand Giant Microbes zombie virus toy for a friend.

My mum has got my older son a second hand vTech Little Einsteins laptop, he is nine (also severely autistic) and it's older than he is! It works well though and he is going to love it, he loves toy laptops and Little Einsteins. He saw a picture of it and hasn't stopped mentioning it since.

Yay! Tomorrow I'm getting a toy oven, washing machine and dishwasher for £15 from Gumtree. I might cave and give it before Christmas because I know just how much it's going to be enjoyed.

I saw two Enid blyton Christmas stories books in my village charity shop, popped in to get them for dd’s December birthday - £1 each and like new condition. Saw them in Asda today for £4 each so quite pleased with myself!
