I might put our dining room tree up today

We have a new tree and some new globes and I’m so tempted to put it up today.

No one but me and DH would see it as the dining Room is on the back of the house and it means when I’m wrapping presents, tomorrow and next weekend I’ll feel super festive.

Can anyone convince me not to? We usually wait until the first weekend in December to put our decorations up.

I can't help as I'm itching to put mine up too 😂

BiteyShark · 16/11/2019 07:23

If it's going to make you happy do it.

Kathsmum · 16/11/2019 07:24

If it makes you happy why not?! X

Star2015 · 16/11/2019 07:39

Thanks! That’s exactly what I’ve been saying to myself.. no one sets any rules and it will make me happy.. I might go for it!

First things first though hubby has to finish painting in there Halloween Grin

Get your DH into his painting overalls otherwise (if he's anything like mine) it'll be the first weekend in March !

Maybe plan for next weekend , get the tree set up midweek to allow settlement then decorate .
Keep the wrapping till next weekend too (or you'll be caught by The Twitch )

Mission get the tree up is on....

DH started painting on Thursday just the finishing touches to do... eek!

Ps - the twitch will be ok as I have shopping to do next week then again in December (spreading the cost), but this weekend and next weekend are our only free ones without set plans.

How exciting!

I use the ironing board to wrap on , adjustable height , big enough for the presents I wrap, (mine are teens so no 'Big Box Presents' )

I put all presents for that person in a laundry basket then wrap and put in another basket .

(I use one paper per person so I don't need tags)

Cup of coffee on the go, something on TV.

The Twitch doesn't care how organised you are or how well you've managed your budget .
The Black Friday Twitch is the villain here Xmas Grin

It's November!! There are people in the next road already have full decs - I think it spoils it. Also you'll be one of those folk who are posting on boxing day about not being able to wait to take the tree down.🐑🍬

SweetPeaPods · 16/11/2019 10:19

One of our neighbours has theirs up.
If it wasn’t DHs birthday this weekend I would be wanting ours up too. Maybe next weekend....

Do it 🎄
Do it 🎄
Do it🎄

EdWinchester · 16/11/2019 10:45

It's November. It is too soon. Much more special to wait until actual Christmas time.

Mind you, I am googling garlands. I always do my own for above the fireplace, but the heat from the wood burner turns it all to a crisp within a couple of days and I keep having to re-do it. To my family's horror, I have mooted the idea of a fake one.

Youvegotafriendinme · 16/11/2019 10:46

Do it! If it wasn’t for the fact I’m waiting for DS’ 3rd birthday first to decorate, I’d have it up already!

@ 70isaLimitNotaTarget can I just say your a bloody genius! Why did I not think of this before?!

rainbowlou · 16/11/2019 10:49

Our neighbour has had their decorations up and outdoor lights on since November 1st!

YourOpinionIsNoted · 16/11/2019 10:53

Oh my god the ironing board wrapping station is a revelation!

Star2015 · 16/11/2019 20:11

Just an update........ we have our first tree up! The dining rooms looks absolutely beautiful - nothing else but the tree but it meant it was super festive for my afternoon wrapping session.

Nothing else now until 30th November when the main tree will go up! Woop woop Grin
