What are you getting your 6/7 year old boys?

II'm in need of inspiration! What are people getting 6/7 year old boys that isn't tech or Lego?! He has a tablet, loves Lego but we are drowning in it, and we have lots of random relatives who want ideas to buy him. It would be nice to find some toys that don't need adult input (he loved a Horrible Science kit he got for his birthday but it's not something he can do solo so I'd rather not be lumbered with half a dozen of them!) He doesn't like football, so that one's out.

what about:
lego themed pyjamas
gaming mat (like a dance mat)
make your own clay dinos
around the world Excavation kit
lego lunch box and bottle
a hex bugs set (other relatives could buy more bugs for it or additional items to supplement it)

For independent play:

Gravitrax
Cozmo the robot (my 6.11 yr old is playing with this as I type!)
A domino rally set (we have the wooden Hape one, it gets loads of use)
Maze books (the the Usborne book of Pirate Mazes etc)

My nearly 7 year old would spend all day playing board/card games. Favourites are:

Pokemon monopoly
Labyrinth
Dobble (you get get a Harry Potter version)
Minecraft Uno
Guess Who?

In terms of books, he will happily sit and read Tom Gates, Minecraft Guide To... books, and he loves 'seek and find' type books.

My son likes hot wires, comic books, Hama beads. I’ve got him the smart pixelator this year and some nerf laser guns.

My son is exactly that age. He loves Hotwires, board games, books, marble run etc.

We are reluctant to buy more general Lego, but my brother has bought him some Lego Technic. Could something like that work, if he doesn’t already have it? The kits are a minimum of 7+ but aren’t overly complex.

His main present this year is a bike, but he’s also getting (for Xmas & birthday):
