Am thinking of getting DD an echo dot or google mini for her room to use as an alarm, play a bit of music and to generally have a bit of fun with.

Which one is better? We have a bit of amazon tech (kindles/kindle fire) but I don't like the way it ties you into everything Amazon, which is why I'm slightly erring towards Google, but then they get mixed reviews.

Anyone got one for kids - are they worth it? and Amazon or Google?

Dd has a google one, we have it locked down so she can’t just look anything up on it. But she has fun playing music and asking it what the weather is like etc! It also does her a bedtime story sometimes. We actually got ours free when we took out Spotify.

@WeeM thanks. How do you lock it down? Does it have an app to go with it or something? (I've never used them) Hadn't considered what my DD might ask it!

Yeah it’s through an app. Dh did it but seemed quite easy. You can also set up Spotify so they have their own profile.
