Do you reckon I could spray paint Xmas baubles?

I have 2 trees - the "elegant" themed one in the posher sitting room we don't use much (but has a bay window looking onto the street and we do Xmas morning in) and the family one in the often used sitting room with mish mashed baubles / home made / souvenir ones / etc.

The elegant one has always been red and gold but I'm feeling it's a bit dated. I'd like to change it to gold, copper and browns. But it feels really wasteful to go out and buy loads of new baubles. Could I spray paint the red ones copper and brown, and if so how would I do it?

Of course. I would probably lay them out on newspaper, spray and leave to dry, then them over and repeat... But I can't say I've ever done it.

I was contemplating hanging them on the washing line and blasting them outside. Will I need to prime them do you think?

Why don't you donate your old ones to a care home and start afresh? They will be appreciated by the residents and you can save yourself a load of work, not to mention filling the air with toxic paint fumes!

Well you can but they'll all be matte/metallic effect. Spray paint won't give you that mirror shine. Also, decent spray paint isn't cheap.

If you do it. Do it outside. Fumes!

If you do protect your clothes and hair. I’m not convinced cans of spray paint would be less wasteful than new baubles.

I would give the old baubles to a charity shop and buy new.
