Hello

My 5yo has asked for a cool race track but I'd like personal recommendations as we've tried and failed a bit with a few hot wheels things already.

Thank you :)

What about scalextrix ? But it's not really something you can leave out on the floor, due to the connections. My DS has my first scaletrix and uses on the dining table, which is basic but could test the idea out. Think I got it at Argos.

Micro scalextric are fun, but they do need careful handling. Lidl or Aldi occasionally do sets at a discount.

I was going to suggest Hot Wheels - where are you going wrong with it? (DH is a sad Hot Wheels geek, so I can ask him for help if you like!)

This is less than half price at the moment and has good reviews www.argos.co.uk/product/7114937

I've just ordered a micro scalextric from.Aldi at £34.99. At that price I'm not too bothered if it's not amazing x

The Hotwheels trackbuilder crate is very good. We also found several of the sets very disappointing, but the crate is well loved by both our boys.

Is there still a junior version of scalextric? The cars are slower than the standard version so less inclined to fly off the track. Mine had one at similar age.

If you can find one of these, I can highly recommend for hours of fun. You can race four cars at once and the flags at the bottom reflect each cars finishing position. Far and away the best hot wheels set my DC had.

This anki overdrive set is good.

My five year old loves Hot wheels, the track builder boxes are his favourites, he has three, much prefers those to the more fancy ones and builds what he likes. Not sure where your going wrong? Scalextrix might work better for you? Mine prefers Hot wheels though.

Thank you. We have two boxes of hot wheels track builds, he doesnt like them. Think he'd like a remote control type track so I'll look at the ones suggested :)
