What are you buying your 3yo?

I need a Santa present for 3yo DS. I've asked him, he said 'presents' 😂

He will play with anything which I think might be why I'm struggling. Likes Paw Patrol but all the bigger toys seem a bit shit, or hideously expensive. Budget about £30.

Any ideas appreciated! Thanks

I got our three year old one of those mats with a road on it for playing with toy cars. Can't remember exact price but it was Paw Patrol and you could choose a police car with Chase or a fire engine with Marshall. Pretty sure it was under £20 and was from B&M.

Oh sounds great I'll have a nosey

Hopefully this works

I'm on the lookout for a good Thomas The Tank playset. Ideally something that isn't in a million pieces. My mum has one at her house that is like a little gold mine with ramps and things and DS loves it.

He's also quite into jigsaws so I'll get some of those.

I'm determined not to buy for the sake of it this year.

Ds is 3 a week before Christmas so this is for birthday too and some relatives buy some of the gifts I buy from me, to give to him so bare that in mind if you think it's crazy.

Wooden London bus with people
Paw Patrol true metal paw patroler (converts to a playset)
Paw Patrol true metal vehicles set
Rubber interlocking road track pieces
Wooden marble run
Duplo fire engine
Duplo tow truck
Remote control train for wooden tracks
Velcro blocks dinosaur
Books
Paw Patrol umbrella
Wellies

I think that is everything except stocking and PJ's.

DS was 3 last Christmas. He got a paw patrol fire engine from us, duplo play house from one set of gps, real baking set and pinny from uncle, play farm from auntie, enormous plastic play shop from other gps that we hid Grin.

LittleAndOften · 05/11/2019 17:58

Oh he also got a fancy remote control bulldozer from someone, that broke after 5 minutes.
His paw patrol fire engine is still his most played with toy, along with lego, Brio train track and a box of 2nd hand cars.

Mostly playmobil, duplo and play doh .

Happyland- he has a lot already because he’s a second child. He’s getting 3 sets he doesn’t have.
A couple of simple board games.
Lots of books.
Another set of Magnatiles to add to the collection. (Both kids play with it all the time).

Aldi have some nice wooden toys for under £30 - toy garage, play kitchen etc.
We are getting DD3 playmobil but you don't get much for £30. A scooter is also a cool present for a 3yo.

I find character stuff (peppa pig, paw patrol etc) is always poor quality and once they're over the "fad" they stop playing with it. DD pretends to be Paw Patrol with her toy garage, they dont need the official character sets to do it, and then she will still play with the garage when the next favourite comes along.

I've got him some second hand bits as he'll never know!! And they were bargains (a massive castle with dragons and some toot toot vehicles), and then a mini football table, a dinosaur head torch and a dinosaur projector torch. And some pyjamas. Which is Birmingham, but he needs some!

PushkinTheCat · 06/11/2019 08:01

Mine has Paw Patrol skittles (a set of six and a ball), which have been a huge hit since his third birthday and only cost about £10.

Mummyilovejokes1 · 06/11/2019 10:12

I bought, and have given, my youngest DGS a hobby horse from a charity shop. It was £2.99 and he's very excited by it. He's obsessed with monster trucks so we'll get him something along those lines. Last year I found Tonka made smaller toys including monster tricks. He also had paw patrol veh and they're pretty solid. He's had them for nearly a year and he still hasn't managed to take the wheels off. I'll be glad when he gets into dinosaurs.

middlemuddle · 07/11/2019 00:30

He's asked for a spiderman figure and a ninja turtle figure.

I've got him those, some Paw Patrol die cast cars, the ninja turtle tank, a dino fingerling, Connect Four, a talking Woody and a Slinky Dog. Oh and those russian nesting dolls. He has older siblings who are 5 and 7 so they all play with each others stuff really.
