Balsam Hill vs White Company artificial trees

I’ve been tempted by Balsam Hill for a couple of years but never really loved the shape although from all the rave reviews, I understand the quality is excellent. Was browsing white company catalogue the other day and their pre-lit artificial trees just looked so much better (IMO) and realistic. Anyone have a view on which is the best/ most realistic/ best quality artificial tree out there?

White co didn’t have many customer reviews so difficult to compare

Hmm . Was also hoping for this answer, two years on! Trying to decide between BH European fir and the TWC offering

TrickyD · 24/10/2021 09:34

Forget both, look at Christmas Tree World, beautiful trees, DH bought one as he liked ours so much, fast delivery and lovely people to talk to for advice.

White C might not have many reviews, but Balsam Hill have a Facebook site called 'Balsam Hill Complaints' . Lots of problems with delivery and appalling customer service.

The white company artificial trees are lovely

I have BH trees and I’ve never seen anything comparable in garden centres / shops , I’ve also had excellent customer service when I needed to send one back and when I wanted spare bulbs .

Hello! Had to roll back a dozen or so user names to post this so hopefully it has worked…I was OP….so we ended up going with a white company tree…and not pre-lit because we have young kids and they wanted coloured lights and I wanted the option of white lights some time in the future! I just looked at TWC website and they don’t seem to have it for sale (yet?) this year. 7.5 foot premium version (I think it maybe cost about £500?). Absolutely delighted with it…it looks so real and the quality is phenomenal. Everyone who has seen it comments on what a lovely tree it is etc. Quality wise, it is super…I think we will get years and years out of it. Would definitely recommend and we’ve ALWAYS had a real tree before this. I love it!

Also a differentiator for me was the shape…BH all seemed quite conical, even the ones that were supposed to be “fuller” looked like artificial triangles to my eyes and you could tell they were artificial by the shape. Our TWC one has a nice fat bottom and mimics the real trees we have always had more faithfully.

Thanks very much @PsuedoSatisfactionBaby. I saw a 6' one in person today and it looked pretty good.
I think I slightly prefer the shape of the BH European fir but with the usual 15% subscriber discount, the TWC one is much cheaper. I think I will go for it.
Thanks again!

I've never found anything comparable to BH trees. Mine is very full if you take the time to follow the instructions correctly.

I think many items from White Company are poor quality.

Fargoer · 26/10/2021 19:43

@MapleMay11 have you specifically seen the TWC trees?

DanceAllDay · 26/10/2021 19:48

We ordered a BH tree the other day. Like you I scrolled through, it seems, ALL of MN. A mixed bag but I’ve always liked them. We have a small house and found one to fit us. We ordered it two days ago and it arrived today. I was a bit wary as their TrustPilot reviews showed a lot of people unhappy as trees not stocked in UK - but very surprised r turned up so quickly. We put it to make sure it all worked (pre-lit). It’s fab how it all goes together and DP doesn’t regret spending the money.

We got it in the sale and then £20 off for subscribing.

Now off to look at TWC trees - I love Christmas!

MapleMay11 · 26/10/2021 19:49

Fargoer I've seen the ones currently priced at around £295 on the website and they're definitely not comparable to BH, although they're much cheaper so it's perhaps an unfair comparison. The premium ones the OP mentions are on eBay.

Fargoer · 26/10/2021 19:55

Hmm ok, thanks @MapleMay11, good point. I was going for this one but I guess that's not the premium one...

(i can't find them on eBay either)

MapleMay11 · 26/10/2021 19:59

Fargoer I don't think it would be for a 9ft tree. I would expect a higher price than that.
