Christmas presents for my 7 year olds

My twin girls are 7 and in need of a bigger bike which they are very excited about getting for Christmas.

I want to go for a decent bike that will last them a long while so have decided on a Isla Bike or a Frog Bike which are both quite pricey. I have told them that if they receive a bike that will be their only gift under the tree (alongside a stocking). We have never been a family to buy a lot of gifts anyway and I don't buy rubbish for the sake of it. They wont receive anything else as family are aboard and we don't really do gifts (enormous family with a lot of children).

We will need £700 for the two bikes and this is more than we would usually spend. Should we do this or will it be sad on Christmas morning to have nothing under else the tree? I honestly cannot make a decision!

We got my sons bike ( it's not a frog ) but a decent bike second hand , my friend got a frog second hand so it is worth looking on local selling sites ect

Made me think of all the non-special children living in my city and their second hand, budget bikes (if they're lucky) You had a smug turn of phrase OP and I probably shouldn't have bothered calling you on it. Spend away, just don't say you have to because of your dc. All dc deserve nice things. [santa]

You have no idea of our personal lives, we have to save hard to pay for them to have decent bikes. Now go peck someone else's life, Ms Misery.

Thanks to those who gave advice, it's much appreciated and I will check out the others that were mentioned.

You're really not able to take on board what I was saying, are you?
All the best with the bike hunt

Islabikes and the like are worth every penny!

We just got DD (6) a Frog on Gumtree for £170 - still a lot but it's mint and it will fit her for a couple of years we think, then good resale value.

Also worth looking at Halfords.
