Laptop for 10 year old son?

The only thing my ds has wanted all year is a mobile phone - all his friends have them but I’m set against him having one so young as he’s not mature enough.

I think he’s finally got the message and has changed his mind - he’s now asking for a laptop as he loves to do online maths games etc that the school set competitions for, plus he has an animation kit that he would use for videos etc.

Does anyone have a decent laptop that cost less than £200 they could recommend?

I doubt you will get a decent new laptop for less than £200. You may be better off buying something second hand?

Why don’t you get him a kindle fire?
You will not get a decent laptop for 200£, sorry.

I'm thinking of getting a chromebook for Dd same age. I'm considering a reconditioned one.

Get a chromebook many under £200

I've given our DS my old chrome book for the same reason. His school use a lot of different web based programs and he's enjoying being able to access them without using the desktop.

I've got a Chromebook and I love it. Very fast and runs everything I need it to. Much cheaper than a conventional laptop although it's heavily reliant on Google and having accounts on everything.

Another vote for a Chromebook. My DH swears by his and we'll be getting one for our DS when he's a bit older.

Fine for accessing the internet and docs (Word Processing/Spreadsheets/Presentations) can be created in Google Drive.

We're looking at a chromebook for our nearly 11 year old. He starts senior school next year so can do homework etc on it also. He has asked for a lot this year so may put it off until next year... He has a December birthday so it all comes at once for him. You can defo pick one up for under £200.

My dyslexic 14 yo needs a laptop for school but I also don't want to spend a fortune. What's the difference between a chrome book and standard laptop?
