There's a thread about the best, but I thought the worst would be funnier. 😁 Would like it to keep it light, so no comments about being ungrateful etc please!

So what's the worst secret Santa present you've ever had?

Nothing. The person buying for me assumed someone else would do it (why?!) I was heavily pregnant and sad !

keepingbees · 27/10/2019 09:34

Some of these are shocking!
I'm a sahm but my DH has never had anything good from SS at his work. He's been forgotten before too and got nothing. Last one he got was a small Nerf gun. Not quite sure what a man in his 40s was supposed to do with thatConfused

Whoopstheregomyinsides · 27/10/2019 09:38

4 cans of Stella
Yes, really.
And I knew who bought it. She was a nasty piece of work when she wanted to be.

Wearenotyourkind · 27/10/2019 09:40

A remote controlled rat. Was from my manager. I left not long after that gem.

GreyGardens88 · 27/10/2019 10:05

Some of these are WTF Hmm

I've always found the worst ones to be ones that the giver has obviously searched for in the back of their cupboard the night before

I hate secret santa, one year I was forced into taking part, then on the day everyone left the presents on the recipients desk, obviously my desk was left empty Angry It makes it worst when they don't fess up to being the one who forgot

FadingStar · 27/10/2019 11:53

It just seems to be an opportunity for cruelty for a lot of people, going by the posts here. They can be as nasty as hell yet remain anonymous. It's shit using what should be a kind tradition to hurt someone and make them feel like crap.

Lube 🤷🏼‍♀️

Fantie · 27/10/2019 12:24

And no I’d never slept with anyone in the office

thewayoftheplatypus · 27/10/2019 22:04

Coat hangers! Cheap wire coathangers to be precise ‘because I really like fashion’. There was a £20 limit and I had chosen a really thoughtful gift- gutted

DtPeabodysLoosePants · 28/10/2019 16:29

The one where no one got me anything but I went to a lot of effort to give my person theirs as I was off sick with PND. It was a real smack in the face and I was so hurt.

A copy of Fifty Shades of Grey.

BatleyTownswomensGuild · 30/10/2019 08:34

A mini liqueur and matching glass set. Sounds harmless enough, except when I opened it there was sticky residue in the bottom of the glass - it had already been used (not washed out properly) and stuck back in the box and given as a gift....

Cheers, thanks 'Santa'....

I wouldn't mind an amaryllis bulb! Grin

The one and only time I worked somewhere where there was a work Secret Santa, I got a box of really cheap supermarket Christmas crackers. I mean, it wasn't insulting, but it was meh, totally thoughtless and cheap (and nowhere near the £10 limit). Other colleagues got things like sweet dispensers or notebooks or stationery or toiletries so it wasn't like the other gifts were super-amazing just that mine was a bit crap. I think the giver was clearly a man who had forgotten and grabbed whatever he could find, but I was a 21-year-old girl and it made me feel pretty shit really. Thankfully I don't work anywhere where a SS happens now there's more than enough to do near Christmas than add that as well!

summersounds · 29/12/2020 05:44

A disco light bulb and a tiny bar of vegan chocolate ( I'm not vegan ) thar taste really bitter and left a bad aftertaste was upsetting as everyone else got nice gifts

Deereamer · 30/12/2020 08:34

I got a “funny” little book about mood swings. I laughed along with it but after 3 miscarriages, and a failed IVF cycle (that the present buyer knew about) I didn’t feel that I had much to be happy about that year.

IceCreamAndCandyfloss · 30/12/2020 12:10

Cheap chocolate or a 99p diary so no where near the limit spent. Don’t get why people take part if they aren’t going to put a bit of effort in or spend the agreed amount.
