What are you getting your 4/5 year olds, especially if they're the youngest?

Just that really! Mine has asked for a Tayo bus toy but I'll get some other things too. We have lots of Duplo/Lego/Brio already, and he has a bike and scooter. As well as those things he enjoys jigsaws, PlayDoh, kinetic sand, Orchard toys games, cooking/baking, painting... He isn't much into sitting for books (just a bedtime story) or DVDs.

Finding it hard to come up with ideas especially as he is the youngest so we already have things for his age and up, but I don't want to give him loads less than his sibling.

Thanks! We have the Gears thing already and it's been a really good buy. Will look into the others, Junior Meccano would be right up his alley I think!

Ds 5 has his heart set on a RC car.
So far have only got him a dressing up outfit +mask - and a Lego dinosaur set.

I’ve earmarked a domino rally and this interactive map thing www.amazon.co.uk/BEST-LEARNING-i-Poster-World-Interactive/dp/B01NAU59E6?tag=mumsnetforu03-21

And maybe some magnatiles/magformers as we’ve got a basic starter set and they’re a big hit. We looked at the Brightminds catalogue this morning (not promoting them, I must be in their mailing list) so he could get some ideas for a letter to Santa as he’s not a boy that wants much.

Watching with interest. We are in a similar position and DS2 turned 4 this week so we have a double whammy as far as gifts are concerned...

ShitUsername · 25/10/2019 18:30

What about playmobil? I just bought a load of Knights stuff for my son who’ll be 4 in Nov as they have a code for 15% off just now Smile

ShitUsername · 25/10/2019 18:32

Also meant to say, TK Maxx have some fab costumes if he’s into dressing up!

JassyRadlett · 25/10/2019 20:26

Playmobil is a good shout. DS2 got the hospital for his birthday and loves it when he can get it out of my hands because I’m busy playing Grey’s Anatomy

He’s having vouchers as his main gift from us, in a Peter Rabbit tin. We did this for our older 2 3 years ago and it is still their ‘best present ever’. Things like ‘breakfast in bed’; ‘control of the remote for 2 hours’ ; your choice of meal out; popcorn and hot chocolate; a trip to the beach etc.
Father Christmas is getting him some Maltese’s and a light writing board.

Fueledwithfairydustandgin · 25/10/2019 21:30

5y/o DS is getting BMX, (he has a bike but he can't do tricks at the skate park on it), some bruder tractors, an adjustable basketball net, some science sets, a remote control monster truck and playmobil boat toy for the bath.

Dc3 has just turned five. He’s having a wooden marble run, possibly skalextrik junior, a bed lamp, fluffy onesie, an orchard toys game, books and something paw patrol or blaze related.

NoWordForFluffy · 30/10/2019 16:27

DS was 5 in July. He's getting:

Lego (Batman and City);
Books;
Slippers;
Pyjamas (Batman and Hey Duggee);
Colouring book and felt tips;
Spider-Man thingy (helpful, but can't recall what it is!);
Transformers;
Paw Patrol Chase Ty;
Kyan plush.

Can't think of anything else. There's a few other little bits though.

Ds2 is 4.5 and is getting an indoor (fitness) trampoline which he can have in his room when it's horrible outside, and then out on the terrace in summer. We don't have a garden, so no space for a proper big one, and even if we did that wouldn't be any good in bad weather so this seems like a good compromise. And he has SO MUCH ENERGY lol. I think (hope) this will be a good present for both of us :)

Leeds2 · 30/10/2019 17:13

A football, football kit of his favourite team and a goal, if you don't already have one.
Marble run.
Dressing up hamper with lots of outfits and accessories.
RC car.

WeCameToDanceWithTheDead · 31/10/2019 12:11

Ds will be 4 in January and he is getting a shopping trolley (he is obsessed with them). Jurassic park/world dinosaurs, lego, magnetic car transporter thing, octonauts play sets and some diggers.
My mum has got him a sit on digger thing where the arm moves. I will curse her. I dont want it in the house.

SlurplePurple · 31/10/2019 12:17

Ds1 is 4 and he’s having the big t-Rex thing by Jurassic park, a spinosaurus, a velociraptor as his main presents. He’s dinosaur crazy.
We’ve also got him a microscope and some binoculars for his bug hunting.
He’s my middle child but his sister had all the big things to pass on like kitchen/bikes/scooters etc.
He’s asked for a skateboard but he’s already a bit of a whirlwind so I’m worried it’ll make him even faster everywhere we go outdoors.
