DH and DF, what are you getting them?

DH: has everything and buys gadgets as soon as he wants them Hmm. Likes football (but reads When Saturday Comes, would hate kit etc). Beer but nothing weird (I got him a beer subscription before and he didn't like most of the beers.) I will probably get him a cashmere hat for commuting. Just got himself a new MacBook.
DF is 80, still quite active. Likes history but actually authors books on it! But I sometimes find something he hasn't read. I daren't buy him wine as he knows too much.

For my dad, an Ancestry DNA kit. He was fascinated by my results earlier this year.

For FIL, we’re getting a family photo jigsaw.

For DH, a voucher for more work shirts from Charles Tyrwhitt, chef knife, shower gel, magnetic bracelet thing for DIY. I feel like I need one more “big” present.

Very little! Bought DF a laptop last Christmas- is for birthday and Christmas for the next few years as was much more than would usually spend.

Bought several gig tickets for DH, or rather he has bought them, and theatre tickets for me, and that is birthday and Christmas sorted for each of us. Will buy a few stocking fillers to include running socks, rack to display running medals, few sweets and some beers!

Subscription to The Athletic, a new sports site with some of the top journos, loads of football content on it.

A set of three map prints of all the places we’ve lived together

Fancy gin concoction (aldi has some great ones)

Not sure for DF yet

I'm quite pleased with my idea for DH this year. He loves films and is always bemoaning the fact we don't have a decent art house cinema anywhere near us. I am getting him an annual subscription to BFI player. A gift card is £49.99 and we have a 50 quid limit so I have change for a penny chew too. Smile

I dont have a DF or DFIL, but DH will be getting a "Go" boardgame, an Islay malt, a new wallet and a weekend in his favourite Welsh hotel.

FYI if you are booking F1 tickets for a big birthday sirprise and in need of accomodation some of the drivers usually stay at the Whittlebury Park hotel which is right next to the race track and can be walked to through the camp site.

Goodwood tickets and stay in the Brooklands hotel

What is yr budget for Dad / I bought mine a google home last year and set it up for him with Spotify so he just asks for music and gets it ( bad eyesight) , uses it to set wake up alarm ,ask about weather etc

DP is getting a Lego set for Christmas. The Landrover Defender. It is his birthday just before too, so he is getting a couple of vinyl albums and running leggings. That’s me broke until Easter!

Dangerfloof · 27/10/2019 20:01

I bought one last year. Sadly it's not broken or worn out.

Come in all different Price points, handy for dog walking, fixing the car in the dark, whatever night time activities you do.
Sold on Amazon, sealskinz blah blah.

Dh has asked for wireless headphones. So I'll get those along with the obligatory bottle of whisky, nice chocolate, black socks. We're buying the DC a playstation so I might get him a grown up game for that.
DF and DM go on a lot of weekends away now so I usually give them money for a nice meal whilst they are away. Boring but I know it's something they'll enjoy.
We got PIL's personalised passport covers last year. I have no idea if they use them. They spend most of the year travelling and are very difficult to buy for. I might try some nice liqueurs this year.

Some decent stuff here too. I love the weather brolly and transparent lock. Not bad prices.

drspouse · 27/10/2019 21:19

Wow, some lovely stuff there!

My husband usually has an Amazon wishlist but it’s all books and games for his PS4 and I don’t like buying him stuff like that. Also we’re being single waste this year. We’re going to either get the Merlin passes for the whole family on Black Friday as a gift for each other, or (if the Black Friday deal isn’t great) we’ll put money towards our big tent, which we have a gift fund set up for family to contribute to (it’s a posh tent 🏕 ) on Things to Get Me www.thingstogetme.com/ with the aim that we stop taking holidays abroad and explore our own fine isle instead.
I like the idea of our presents contributing to our lives together rather than being material items.

All that being said, I have also bought him a shirt and some trousers, but only coz all of his clothes have bloody holes in them! 🤣

sueH1983 · 27/10/2019 21:27

Zero waste not single waste lol
