I do my mum's shopping for her (she has health issues and doesn't use the internet) but she has a LOT of grandchildren (and children) to buy for and son/daughter in-laws, so I normally start end of August/September time but this year I started in July.
I've gone way over the top (but I am known for this in my family, I'm the sister/auntie a lot of people on here complain about buying various gifts). I don't buy any rubbish though, all decent gifts, just way too much money spent on each person. We don't get into any debt for it either, everything is paid for as it is bought.
I don't have any children of my own yet, so my mum gives me a set amount to buy for everyone (she saves it up each month through the year) and then I add some of my own money for the "extra" gifts.
It's the little ones (nieces and nephews) I can't stop myself buying more and more, one of my niece's currently has 7 presents from my mum and I and not one of them has cost less than £35. I do get some great deals though, with vouchers and discount codes and starting early means I spread the cost. This particular niece is really into LOL Surprise, so none of that stuff is on the cheap side unfortunately.
We have officially finished buying for everyone, we have also bought all of our alcohol, all gift bags/paper/tags and have recently started buying the sweet stuff (tubs).
I need to buy my mum's gifts from me (Not sure what to buy her yet) and gifts for four friends, then that is me finished. My mum will buy me presents (I don't expect any but you know what mum's are like), so we really don't have much more to do, apart from the food shop in December and any last minute bits.
