Ideas for an almost 9 month old

It’s DS’s first rodeo.. he won’t have single clue as to what we’re doing, I’m fully aware. But what things could I get for him.. tell the ones who ask what to get him to get. His birthday is 3 months after so it’s not like he’s long before getting more crap so I don’t really want a ton of tatty crap where possible.

He’s already got a chair that does toddler mode, jumperoo, walker (preemptive Christmas buy), high chair, all the way to 12 car seat and I’ve started on clothes.. which I can wrap if he’s not big enough by then 😂.

It’s really more for the grannies to watch him open than him isn’t it? He’d be happy with a banana 😂.

He’s nearly crawling and can sit ok if that’s any form of guidance.

From me I did some sensory baskets last year (ds was 6 months) - one with textures, one with scarves and balls and one with bottles filled with sequins etc, ds still plays with bits from them.

What about books from others? Ds loved his ball pit from around that age too but the balls everywhere do drive you crazy!

Yeah I was going to say ball pit and books.

DD plays a lot with ring tower, stacking cups.

I also thought about jigsaws.

In terms of gifts from others I've suggested more practical bits. Waterproof suit, crawling leggings ( I love the blade and rose ones) hat, gloves etc.

Noting them all down.. he’s already a leggings man, like his mum . I love the fact their sizes are big like 6-12 so he’s not wearing something twice!

A ball pit might be a terrible or great idea, 3 ball loving dogs and him suppose atleast it’ll be well loved. Does anyone have the fabricy felt ball pits? I know they’re more expensive but they look pretty and hopefully they’d last two kids.. I’ll be back next year with the same dilemma lol

Do you know what I use as a ball pit OP? A puppy pen from Amazon. I open the puppy doors, she crawls in and out. The ledge mostly keeps the balls in. At night I shut the lid and hide all the soft toys etc in it. They have two doors so she loves going in and out. It pop up and has a travel case.

He's too young for it just now but the leap frog ice cream cart is a real winner and won't be long until he will enjoy it. My 1 year old and 4 year old both still play with it.

Also passes to places you visit regular is a good one to suggest to family like the zoo etc

Musical instruments, we had a set of maracas with quite thin stems, good to hold and play around. Some sets are 1 year plus but if you are careful they work well earlier.

A ball bit was a big hit, we had a simple paddling pool filled with them but we had plenty of space and no dogs.

A ride-on toy is a good investment for the future.
