Does anyone go out for Christmas Lunch?

I am classing it as "BODY & SOUL" as it saves us time that we can use getting ready and having a good stressfree day which is good for the soul..... Though cooking can certainly be great for the soul, I do however though find Christmas day cooking a lot of pressure.

Anyway I am looking for recommendations of places that you might have been in SW London or Surrey

This is the Style and Beauty boardOP, so maybe we can help if you want to pick an outfit 😁

SoTiredNeedHoliday · 14/10/2019 18:40

thedevilinablackdress i know it is 'style and beauty' which is under the folder of BODY AND SOUL (as you know) and its where I thought it fit best (if you read my initial comments Grin)
thanks though for your comment Smile

But you may get more relevent responses in the Christmas board.

Dirtyjellycat · 14/10/2019 19:02

Yup, get this moved to Christmas - Style and Beauty is not the place for this!

Fuzzyend · 14/10/2019 19:07

Ooo I'd love to spend Chriatmas Day morning get dressed up and ready to go somewhere nice.....

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 14/10/2019 19:09

This is a really strange topic to start your thread 😀

MrsGrindah · 14/10/2019 19:11

I thought you were going to ask if wearing reindeer antlers and tinsel as a scarf was acceptable!

troppibambini · 14/10/2019 19:17

A red dress definitely.

LilyMumsnet · 14/10/2019 19:24

We're just moving this over to the Christmas topic. Flowers

MummaPI · 14/10/2019 19:34

Yes we are this year! Did it about 6 years ago and loved it! We're not in your area but we booked ours a couple of months ago so dont hang about. We wouldn't do it every year as it costs a bomb but it's a nice thing to do now and again!

Fuzzyend · 14/10/2019 19:54

Arghh @LilyMumsnet- why did you move this out of S&B?! I wanted to know what everyone would wear........

ilovewinterpansies · 14/10/2019 20:07

I called the Fox and Grapes in Wimbledon just today to book Xmas lunch and it's fully booked!

Also looking for somewhere as we are flying abroad in Xmas evening.

Am v keen to know what other options are out there. Crooked billet does a lunch but I didn't call, £85pp and £35 per child seems a bit steep but if others can vouch it's worth it I'll give it a shot

AuntieMarys · 14/10/2019 20:08

Try The Albert on Kingston Hill

AuntieMarys · 14/10/2019 20:09

Or Crooked Billet Wimbledon village

Samosaurus · 14/10/2019 21:26

The Crown in St Margarets is nice. I imagine lots of places are already booked by now though!

shumway · 15/10/2019 12:42

We've been to Cafe Rouge and Loch Fyne on Christmas day before. We always go out.

MsMiaWallace · 15/10/2019 12:46

We did it for 1st time last year & loves it.

We're going for an Indian this Christmas Day. Can't wait.

AgeingDurannie · 15/10/2019 12:58

Have frequently had Christmas lunch at nearby pubs and once at a hotel in Richmond ( can't remember the name) when DS was tiny... with the exception of the Richmond one we've always picked somewhere we can walk to so nobody HAS to drive although my parents often do if they are with us.... as a default host for at least 3 days over Christmas it's a massive relief to have the "main event" taken care of at least... have done a 3 day Hotel Christmas in the past (pre kids) which was great if pricey... doing the same this year at a less costly hotel.... makes me feel like I'm organised for Christmas already as have no hosting to plan for ( my family also going)....having not been away during the summer this year, I'm really looking forward to it......

AnchorDownDeepBreath · 15/10/2019 13:02

@shumway How was cafe rouge? Fiancé's parents have suggested that for this year...

shumway · 15/10/2019 14:02

Cafe Rouge was good - we would go there again.
