Any recommendations for where to get Christmas bedding from? I’ve never bought it before and am really excited at the idea of it but getting overwhelmed with choice!

Matalan and Next have nice ones.

user1480880826 · 12/10/2019 06:53

Oh stop it.

Pointless consumerism. No wonder the planet is fucked.

user1494050295 · 12/10/2019 06:55

White conpany. Bah humbug to previous comment

stucknoue · 12/10/2019 06:55

Just buy a throw, asda have nice ones

AnxiousMcAnxiousFace · 12/10/2019 06:56

It’s a duvet cover User without a proper name. She can put it on her bed for the next 50 Christmas years. How’s it any different from your duvet cover? Or do you sleep outside in nature covered by leaves?

Asda have some nice covers this year too!

Felicitycity · 12/10/2019 06:57

I agree with the over consumerism comment. The planet's got enough to put up with without n million Christmas duvets that are only used for 2 weeks. Sorry.

DrPimplePopper · 12/10/2019 07:01

George at ASDA. We've used ours for the last 3 years and it's always washed really well.

Thank you NoWordForFluffy that’s really helpful.

I don’t do lots of ‘extras’ because I like to keep Christmas simple but this just sounded lovely and something I can use each year.

Now you must go off and mutter about the destruction of our planet whilst using your very eco-friendly phone ...your work for today is done! No snowman duvets for us and you can continue your fight to save the world via the Christmas board on Mumsnet Halo

My Christmas duvets are used from 1st December .

I've just ordered singles & a toddler one from Asda who currently have 15% off certain home/bathroom products.

Next are lovely and Matalan also normally have some lovely ones.

MrsMozartMkII · 12/10/2019 07:03

Don't see why they should only be used for two weeks?

Our Christmas stuff is usually used for at least a month, used every year; and if we don't need or want it any more it goes to a charity shop so someone else can get to use it.

1AngelicFruitCake · 12/10/2019 07:05

Just seen the other comments - thank you! Great ideas.
Thanks for the defence as well! I hardly ever post anything yet read about the masses that other people buy and my duvet question has got that reaction. Maybe she/he needs to do the same for the people on here who are buying loads of things!

Felicity city
Please don’t apologise, I completely understand and it is true but you were polite about it!

But Christmas duvets aren’t disposable? They are duvets. Like everyone has. Whether they are used for 2 weeks every year for 50 years or everyday day until they fall apart is irrelevant. What duvet cover do you use Felicitycity? I’d love a link to your eco friendly non consumeristic cover.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 12/10/2019 07:17

I bought the John Lewis one last year which they still have, more of a wintery scene. I use it all winter. I have an m and s one too, which I use November/December. I love them, think I will get another!

NoWordForFluffy · 12/10/2019 07:17

Ours get used all year if the kids want them on! And they can get used for many years too.

Honestly, some people really don't think their comments through; too busy virtue signalling.

LillyBugg · 12/10/2019 07:22

I got Christmas bedding last year from an Aldi special buy. I changed the kids beds the eve before 1st December while they were sleeping and when they woke up I told them the elves had been and also delivered their advent calendars. Honestly their faces, it was just magical. I'm sure I read this idea on Mumsnet somewhere, I'll be doing it again this year Grin

NoWordForFluffy · 12/10/2019 08:03

Actually, we have a third duvet, I think. So that might work here too. I'll consider that! Xmas Grin

Chilledout11 · 12/10/2019 08:06

I bought those Lilly and changed them in the middle of the night to Grin

Next have lovely sets

Rainbowx2 · 12/10/2019 08:30

Amazon have a big choice I got some 4 years ago and get them out 1st dec for the month, not like you throw them away after Christmas is it!

BlueWonder · 12/10/2019 08:33

How about tartan/check pattern duvet covers....work well for that Christmas/cosy winter feeling but can be used at any time of year.

1AngelicFruitCake · 12/10/2019 08:40

Thank you all for all these ideas. Love the idea of putting it on for 1st December Smile

We have brought them for the first time this year, we got ours from Ebay - they glow in the dark and i know my kids will be so happy and excited to sleep under them. We will use from 1st Dec until the christmas stuff goes away and they will be used again each year.

princessbear80 · 12/10/2019 09:28

I love the idea of Christmas bedding. I’ve just seen a set on Facebook marketplace which I’m going to buy.

CupCupGoose · 12/10/2019 11:43

My kids have had the same ones for the last 5 years and will continue to use them for the next however many years! I got mine from studio as they personalised the pillowcases with their names. I think they were 9.99 each. They love it in December when they get home from school and I've put the Christmas ones on.

PhantomErik · 12/10/2019 13:38

My dc all have brushed cotton Christmas duvet covers & this will be their 7th year of use.

They go on when the decorations go up & the dc love them Grin

PhantomErik · 12/10/2019 13:39

Oh & I bought them off ebay.
