Christmas Bedding

Any recommendations for where to get Christmas bedding from? I’ve never bought it before and am really excited at the idea of it but getting overwhelmed with choice!

OP posts:

Primark have had nice brushed cotton sets in previous years. I must admit that I do think buying winter themed rather than Christmas specific is a wiser choice. It's not virtue signalling but aside from the eco aspect, it's also the storage aspect.

I've also been considering getting 'winter' bedding. I love some of the Matalan duvets but they're mostly polycotton. I imagine they won't need ironing, but do they get all sweaty?? I've always stuck with 100% cotton, but these are so pretty!

@LillyBugg - that's an awesome idea!

And also cheers OP, it's not something I did as a child but seems a lovely idea to do as part of christmas festivities!

M&S had a lovely brushed cotton tartan one last year that I lusted for all Xmas and decided I'd leave it and try and get it in the sale.

Failed. This year I will just buy the damn thing.

Dunelm have nice sets. I've had mine from Asda about 5 years use them all through December . Feels special 🌲🌲

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 12/10/2019 14:43

I got my DDs Christmas bedding five or six years ago from Next. Used every December and will continue doing so for quite a few years yet. I made sure it wasn't too babyish.

There are a lot worse things environmentally surrounding Christmas.

tentative3 · 12/10/2019 15:00

@frogsandchairs I wouldn't do polycotton myself but I'm a hot sleeper.

GingersAreLush · 12/10/2019 15:08

Asda do nice ones. I got some a few years ago that brushed cotton and are Christmassy but not too Christmassy. They theoretically go on the beds 1st December but last year went on sometime in mid November and we used them right through winter. This year will be either the 3rd or 4th year we use them. Not wasteful at all.

Shufflebumnessie · 12/10/2019 15:40

I bought one for DS several years ago from Amazon, very festive with reindeer on it. It goes on his bed on the Friday closest to 1st December and that's the evening we decorate the tree after school. I've just realised that DD may well be in a bed by Christmas so I've ordered her an advent calendar design one from Matalan.

I have m&s brushes cotton bedding for winter. It’s really good quality and feels lovely. It’s not explicitly Christmas themed but definitely wintry so possibly not what you’re looking for. Like a pp I was hoping to get another set reduced last year which never happened but people have been posting 20% off codes on the bargain thread

Whatsername7 · 12/10/2019 19:24

I got ours from Dunhelm Mill. We have them on for the entire month of December. We've had them for years.

Burpsandrustles · 12/10/2019 19:42

Asda, matalan, next and jl do nice ones.

Asda was beautiful nutcracker theme last year. I also put them on from 1st and usually a couple of weeks into January. We don't want to live army barrack style here so we do things as and when we feel like it 😁.

For us, I purchased a thick white velvet duvet which goes on all winter... So cosy and soft and luxurious.

NaturalBlondeYeahRight · 12/10/2019 21:57

My late teen DD’s still love putting them on beds in December! Ive definitely had brilliant use of my Xmas bedding over the years.

frogsandchairs · 12/10/2019 22:12

Thanks @tentative3, I thought that would be the case as I run hot too.

I guess I'll keep looking...

NoWordForFluffy · 12/10/2019 22:13

I think I'd die from heat exhaustion in velvet! Xmas Grin

SaveMeBarry · 12/10/2019 22:18

Theses are lovely and 100% brushed cotton. Oh AND they're reversible so "not just for Christmas" Wink.

Fstar · 13/10/2019 11:29

Over the years we have had ones from Asda, primark and matalan. All great quality and put by to use again the following year. Ive bought one of those fleece duvet covers from b and m with Stags but im scared it will be too hot now. Loce a thrown for living room over the couch too

Stompythedinosaur · 13/10/2019 15:46

I think Matalan have some nice ones this year. I am trying to resists the ones with hares and animals on, as we have limited storage.

andannabegins · 13/10/2019 16:19

My DD is a massive fan of elves and she has her elf bedding in throughout the year so it is just as environmentally friendly as any other cover! An elf is for life not just for Christmas!

RightOnTheEdge · 13/10/2019 18:44

My dc have Christmas bedding. I love putting it on in December. They have had it a couple of years, I've no idea why people would think they only get used for two weeks and then thrown away Confused

It's made me want some now but there are so many lovely ones.
I'm also torn between going for grown up and classy winter bedding or full on Christmas! Grin🎅🎄

Whathappenedtothelego · 13/10/2019 20:34

We have brushed cotton bedding for winter, it's usually used for about 4 months a year.
We have some from John Lewis, and some from M and Co, have also seen nice ones at M&S.
I love putting them on the beds all cosy when it's cold out - brushed cotton is very cosy and seems much warmer than standard covers.

shoofly · 13/10/2019 20:40

thismeansnothing the M&S tartan ones were on ebay the other day when I looked... Brand new in packaging (v reduced) just search M&S bedding... Hope they're the right ones Smile

BigmouseLittlehouse · 13/10/2019 20:55

@SaveMeBarry - could you post a link? I’m looking for some 100% cotton ones ( sorry if I’m being dumb and you have!)

Kittykatmacbill · 13/10/2019 23:21

My pair adore their ‘Christmas’ geometric grey star brushed cotton bedding so much it’s used all winter (in alternation with other non Christmas - jazzy foxes - brushed cotton covers). I am slightly interested in people who put their christmas bedding on dec 1st. Does it stay on all month? Bleuh.

LillyBugg · 14/10/2019 09:15

kittykatmacbill I don't leave it on all month unwashed Grin I use a dryer in the winter for bedding anyway so it comes off, washed, dried and straight back on again. Easy!
