Any recommendations for where to get Christmas bedding from? I’ve never bought it before and am really excited at the idea of it but getting overwhelmed with choice!

@BigmouseLittlehouse Sorry I thought I had! It's these

BigmouseLittlehouse · 14/10/2019 09:58

Thanks - they are super cute!

BigmouseLittlehouse · 14/10/2019 10:44

Are they ok quality wise @SaveMeBarry?

Skyejuly · 14/10/2019 10:45

I love the idea but I cant bring myself to do it. What about just a winter one as in thicker etc but not as limited.

Whatsername7 · 14/10/2019 11:00

I too wash them throughout the month! Otherwise, I agree - bleaugh!

PepsiLola · 14/10/2019 12:38

We have ours on from 1st December. I wash bedding weekly and will wash them and put them back on same day.

I understand someone saying it's wasteful if I were buying new every year, but ours are a few years old now and I won't be binning anytime soon 🤷🏼‍♀️

WellTidy · 14/10/2019 12:49

I put ours on for 1st November too. I've bought from M&S and Next in the past. Fab quality.

Matalan generally does very nice fleece throws for about £5 or £6 each at Christmas. We use them as blankets.

I've also bought duvet sets, not Christmas ones though, in Dunelm for the DC. Quality has been great, and very reasonably priced.

IncrediblySadToo · 14/10/2019 12:59

I love putting the Christmas bedding on

It usually goes in mid Nov till mid Jan (so 2 months, not weeks) and comes out each year. It’s no different than buying any other bed linen.

Gets washed at least once per week.

Arrowfanatic · 14/10/2019 14:22

I've never done it as frankly I've never been able to afford to, my kids have one set each which i wash and pop straight back on. But this year i may be able to afford it and I'm so excited at the prospect of them Xmas Grin

Now to choose whether to go full xmas or just festive winter?

Any suggestions for where is a good place to look? Not too expensive as I'd need 3 & ideally need each set different.

whimsical1975 · 14/10/2019 16:03

I'm debating whether to get this one for my 12 year old DD... I absolutely love it but can't find one I love for DS so not sure what to do...

LillyBugg · 14/10/2019 18:21

Arrow I'd wait for the Aldi ones to come out if you are watching the finances. They are good quality, a range of designs and also a great price! I think I paid £10 for a single set last year.

PepsiLola · 14/10/2019 18:22

Asda also have fab sets at a bit of a cheaper cost

NoWordForFluffy · 14/10/2019 18:39

I got Snowdog ones for £6 each from Asda last year. They're lovely.

BarkandCheese · 14/10/2019 18:53

I’ve got two winter brushed cotton sets, one I’ve had for about twenty years! A duvet set is for life not just for Christmas Grin .

Ostanovka · 14/10/2019 19:02

Love this idea! I'm going to keep an eye out for the aldi ones.

Undies1990 · 14/10/2019 19:12

I bought a lovely Christmas duvet cover last year from next. It's very subtly festive and I love it so much, I've kept it on ALL YEAR (obvs it has been washed regularly!).

BiddyPop · 14/10/2019 19:16

We are terribly wasteful here....

DD’s plastic glass, plate , mug and bowl from toddlerdom only get used from 1/12 to 6/1 annually (including being put in the CEH on 24/12 for Santa’s treats).

Her bedding is a red sheet from Dunnes Stores and a duvet cover/2 pillowcases from Primark, at least 4 years ago and also used the same period. The red sheet gets some other use during the year.

Her fleece blanket was bought in a quilt shop on holidays and I sewed the panel edges together - it was 2013 I think that we were there.

And her snowman covered hot water bottle is of even older vintage (approx 2009).

Dd is now 13 and still wants all these things - which come out in early December and are used until the tree is taken down and everything goes back into storage.

Are we frivolous?
Yes.
But are we wasteful of resources on that that gets thrown away?
Eh, no!

Her crockery is better used than the “regular” plastic crockery she had from toddlerdom, and her sheet set will be used until she no longer wants it and then recycled someway (possibly our bed!!)

It is nice to have some festive items that come out every year - just like other things that are purely decorative , like the tree and wreath!

Mummyilovejokes1 · 14/10/2019 20:44

@Arrowfanatic try Ebay (ours are from there and they are fab - glow in the dark for kids and a lovely subtle grey and white stag one for us), Amazon, Dunelm, Matalan, Asda....Next ones are lovely but likely to be more expensive.
Enjoy the searching Smile what a lovely surprise for your dc this year

Deminism · 14/10/2019 20:47

My Christmas duvet set (brushed cotton from M&S) is lovely. I use it all year round because it is my favourite.

MorrisZapp · 14/10/2019 21:00

I've got the jazzy foxes too! Was a total bargain from Aldi. So cosy.
