Does anyone NOT go to see Father Christmas?

For those of you with primary age children or younger...

DH was asking me if what where we should go to see FC this year, and I was just half thinking of not doing it this year. Mainly because I almost think it ruins the magical/mystical side of it. Does anyone else agree, or am I just being a grump? Last year we did a big and expensive day out to a winter wonderland. Previous years we just saw FC at a garden centre (bit rubbish) and the town hall (surprisingly good and no queues!)

DC are 5 and 2 for context.

Nah, no way. My DS1 gets upset at the idea of sitting on a strangers lap and getting empty promises. For Pete's Sake, I am NOT getting a puppy just because a middle aged man in a suit says so!

We never have on a specific trip to see him, but we've had a really bad santa at their stage school xmas party the last 2 years (but have since given up).

Last year the primary school did one & it was nice. But its not something i make a big effort to do, and my kids havent been fussed.
