What would you like in your stocking?

My friends husband doesn't do a stocking for her and she mentioned she missed having a stocking. Last year on the spur of the moment I decided to do a stocking for her. I want to do it again this year but would like some new ideas. She is the most incredible friend and helps me out so much so I'd like it to be really special. Thanks Flowers

I’m fairly simple to please and would be happy with any combination of the predictable following:

Chocolate coins
Mini fizz
A book (if you know her taste)
Hand cream
Bubble bath
Candle
Socks
Magazine
Small notebook
Intensive conditioner pot

Waterandlemonjuice · 09/10/2019 20:54

Nail varnish
Lip balm
Cashmere bed socks
Nail file
A glossy magazine
Wine

One2Three4Five6 · 09/10/2019 20:58

My husband always gets me an amazon voucher for my Kindle. I love that.
Always a chocolate covered marzipan bar too.
Bath bombs etc always go down well for me :)

SquintEastwood · 09/10/2019 20:59

I like a themed stocking. Right now I'm into relaxing in the bath so I guess nice things for that?!

If I were making for me I'd have:
Bubble bath
Body cream
Face mask
Small jar candle
Soft towelling hair band
Small speaker for music
Natural soft sponge
Pyjamas
Slipper socks
A floating drinks holder and a plastic glass

I may have to do this for myself 😁

SquintEastwood · 09/10/2019 21:00

Ah yes, and a big box of Forrero Roche!

EmpressJewel · 09/10/2019 21:11

Christmas socks
Hand cream
Scented candle
Bath bomb
Chocolate orange
Sheet face mask
Nail varnish

Fluffy Socks Grin

And perhaps a new book to read

didireallysaythat · 09/10/2019 21:23

I know this might sound like a daft question but would you fill a stocking with two or three items from the lists above? A stocking isn't all of them, right?

I do stockings for DS1&2 and then a token stocking for DH which is usually one sock for the stocking, with the other one stuffed inside, a chocolate orange and maybe a caramac or something along those lines. I can't fit more in. I was going to ask DH if he would do one for me (never had one from him before and we've been together for 30 years!) but I can't see him managing more than one or two things - one or two things under tree is almost a challenge

Cashmere bed socks - not on the high street do personalised ones for less than £20

Walnut whips - M&S pack of 3

Windydaysuponus · 09/10/2019 21:33

You need to tell her to Ltb. ..

@didireallysaythat - we never actually do gifts for each other, just the obligatory something from the kids and generally treat ourselves to something. Last year it was a few nights away in the Easter holidays when MIL could take the kids!

If I could make myself a stocking though is include everything :o

DelurkingAJ · 09/10/2019 22:32

My stocking from DH is fairly extensive. (As is my one from DM because I’m spoilt!)

Things that appear and I love:
Mini gin and nice mixer
Book
Chocolate orange
Lindt Reindeer or Santa
Bath bubbles and shower gel (minis)
Something for the kitchen (serving fork from DM last year as we didn’t have one Grin)
Pants
Embroidery thread (I haven’t bought my own in decades)
Chocolate coins
Cashew nuts
Seeds for the garden

My stockings make me very happy!

PersonaNonGarter · 09/10/2019 23:15

Magazine (posh one; and/ or crap one with puzzles)
Small umbrella
Socks
Nail stuff
Jelly Belly
Chutney and Jam

CherryPavlova · 09/10/2019 23:21

It would depend on budget. I have high expectations from my husband so won’t list what I want.

For a friend
Tights
Chocolate
Toiletries
Handcream
Lip balm
Book
Magazine
Gloves
A scarf
Earrings

CampfireZen · 09/10/2019 23:54

What would you like in your stocking?

Ray Winstone, with a big red bow on his head.

But that's fairly niche...

Seriously, though, you're a nice, thoughtful friend OP.
I'm sure she'll be touched.

PPs have pretty much covered what I'd include in a friend's stocking.
Maybe add a reusable, stainless steel straw for her cocktails?
(or juices, if she's Halo )

TemporaryPermanent · 09/10/2019 23:58

A novel
Something make up related, maybe a Christmassy nail polish
Bedsocks or something else soft and sensual, a friend makes lavender and linseed eye masks
Ice cream voucher from local ice cream shop
Private Eye
Tangerine, apple, chocolate coins

Lc2006 · 10/10/2019 00:37

Any of the following:

Cakeweek · 10/10/2019 06:26

Bath bomb

Lip balm
Nail polish
Book/ magazine
Fluffy bed/ slipper socks
Notepad

DreamingofSunshine · 10/10/2019 07:37

@didireallysaythat I wouldn't put all of them in, they wouldn't fit! Ours are handmade personalised stockings so we aren't changing them.

For us, a stocking is a nice little gift, maybe £20 max? DH's main present is under the tree, it's just a bit of fun. This year his stocking will contain lots of socks as he needs them!

Fueledwithfairydustandgin · 10/10/2019 07:55

Thank you for all the ideas, there's a few I haven't used or thought of but it's also reassured me that it doesn't really matter if there's quite a few bits that are the same.
As for the LTB comment, imagine citing that as grounds for divorce GrinGrin
