That's within 3 hours of Manchester by train?

I'm after somewhere magical for family as a day trip or a weekend.

It’s just over an hour to York. There a Christmas market on for a few weekends and don’t miss the Yuletide Village in The Shambles madeinyorkshire.org.uk/events/st-nicholas-fair-yorkshire-yuletide-village-period-1-3/ The Castle Museum always does something good www.yorkcastlemuseum.org.uk/christmas/ Barley Hall also has lots of celebrations barleyhall.co.uk/about/christmas-at-barley-hall/#FH6cfFrUOah3FptT.97 and the Treasurers House is good too www.nationaltrust.org.uk/treasurers-house-york/features/winter-at-treasurers-house
There are several more events:

You can get a festive afternoon tea at The Grange www.grangehotel.co.uk/food-drink/afternoon-tea but it’s a bit out of the centre.

London or Edinburgh. Laplanduk is magical but I think you might be too late for that
