Has anyone done or know an online course that would be suitable?

Have you looked at clickin moms - it is typically a forum women interested in photography (although men are members and one or two teens with interest in photography) but they also have a number of online workshops and are generally very supportive.

Have a look at "A-Year With My Camera". It is online and free. You get an email once a week with a subject area, then post your homework on a Facebook page. There is also a workbook if you want to go at a slower pace. I got halfway through then slowed down and dropped out of the weekly stuff. I'm still going through the workbook and learning lots. My photos are definitely improving!

Creative live have a lot of courses. Or phlock is good for Photoshop etc

I have done a course with shaw and it was pretty easy to follow and didn’t cost much, often groupon does offers for these courses.

Outschool.com is brilliant- online courses for literally every imaginable subject. My son has done some really obscure ones and really enjoyed them all. The teachers have all been great.
