Im due to give birth to my little girl in 17days I am starting to get prepared for Christmas as it will be one less thing to worry about after having her, I know she will not understand it's Christmas but I would still like to get her something, other than cloths what else could I get a new born baby?

Also my partner has 3 younger brothers. Ages 6,2 and 1. We are extremely stuck on what to get them for Christmas, we can't afford to spend a lot on each of them as we are hoping to move into a bigger house after Christmas and with just having a new baby money will be abit tight.

Newborn - what about a baby's first Christmas bauble? A special wooden toy (for when she is a bit bigger?) I had a new born in November and just stuck £50 in a bank account for her. I correctly predicted that everyone under the sun would want to buy the new baby something for Christmas and she was inundated!!

Younger siblings - do they have wish lists? They are quite young. Duplo/Lego & a selection box?

I wouldn’t buy anything to be honest. You’ll be buying and will have already bought so much for her that it would be a bit pointless

Although if you’re desperate to get something, maybe a doll or teddy? You can get personalised ones on Etsy. Or open an account as a PP suggested and put some money in for the future

For baby:

  • open a savings account and put a bit of money in.
  • wrap up things that you would buy anyway over the first few months (play mat / arch / teethers / pram toys / story books

For the children:

  • look at The Book People (website) - lots of children's book box sets for low prices. Add a selection box each.

For the baby a doll or a teddy would be lovely.

Argos have good stuff for all ages including baby toys in their 2 for 15 and other offers. I think Tesco are just bringing out their toy sale stuff this week. Might be worth a browse for some ideas x

I'm due before Xmas and already have a DS5. I've been looking back at pics to remind myself what DS was interested in in the first few months. They were black and white books. We had a plastic mirror that he loved looking at himself in. A baby Einstein teether toy and he liked looking at the bits hanging from his baby gym.

Do you have a budget in mind?

I'd be tempted to get them a load of playdoh and cutters/rollers/extruders as a shared present.
