Both my DCs have winter birthdays and loads of family members too. So this year I started mega early. Nearly done now, just need to get DCs' main presents, one each. [santa]

Me! Everyone bar overseas parents who I'll organise a hamper to be delivered in December.
I'm always organised for Christmas by November because I have a lot a kids/HC but this year I'm having a full hysterectomy at the end of October so I decided to really go for it. That way if I have any complications or a long recovery I don't have to stress about Christmas Smile

NoWordForFluffy · 02/10/2019 06:14

Yep! Once my chocolate coins arrive with the shopping tomorrow I'll be done! (Bar the dreaded Twitch!) 🎅🏻🎄🎅🏻🎄🎅🏻🎄🎅🏻

Xmas Grin

I am mostly done for my girls. but haven't done family yet. have got a list, just waiting till I get paid again end of October to get the rest!!!

Mrsducky88 · 02/10/2019 06:48

We did half last payday and will do the rest this month. I have a list of what to get, just got to order it and pop to a few local shops. Love getting all mine done by end of October. Then can wrap and distribute to everyone as we see them (family are spread around the UK).

buckeejit · 02/10/2019 07:28

I need to make lists but still have a lot of unassigned presents from May's Jo Malone game & have bought a load of other bits from the bargain thread. Don't want to buy much more other than padding dc sacks out with consumables.

Either way I know I'll twitch!

I think I'm about 2/3 done. I've always started early, end of August/begining of September, but I tend to buy a few things in the summer sale and then feel a bit too smug and slow right down and there is always a panic the last few weeks if I will be able to afford everything. I end up spending all my early December pay and being very skint in January. This year Lidl had a bargain Christmas toy sale at the end of January and I got loads, and that spurred me on to find sale Christmas pyjamas and wrapping paper and I've been on a roll since then buying the odd Christmas gift and I spent my birthday money on retro bulb Christmas lights.

At home, one who has a Christmas week birthday, I'm done for. Got stocking, birthday presents and christmas presents. 2nd DC and 3rd DC I have done stocking and got half their main gifts. I've got a couple of stocking fillers and one main gift for DH.

I've only got 5 out of 20 relatives and friends though. But DH will help me out with a lot of those and some will be vouchers/cash.

I think I'll get a lot more done on Black Friday.

I do it throughout the year when I see things on offer etc with the exception of my son and husband who usually ask for specific things. I hate clutter and waste so would rather buy what they will use than random crap stuck on a shelf

Bluewavescrashing · 02/10/2019 11:32

I always buy through the year. If I see something reduced that someone will like, I'll buy it. Some of my relatives are really hard to buy for.

You don't need to have Christmas things in the shops to get ready for Christmas. Only decorations, wrapping paper etc need to be festive. Presents I give are available all year.

I'm leaving a couple of foodie presents until December, so that they'll have a good shelf life; but I've got everything else.

Dinosauratemydaffodils · 02/10/2019 12:38

Me. We need to get presents to various different places so they need buying in advance due to visits before Christmas. Plus I like to buy the presents before November and then we just need to buy food etc before Christmas to spread the cost better whilst I'm a sahm.

livingthegoodlife · 02/10/2019 18:57

Only a couple of gifts done here... Feel like I have do much to do. I'm so stuck on my five year old!

DrCoconut · 02/10/2019 19:19

It's too early to start. DC will be into something else by December Grin

Bluewavescrashing · 02/10/2019 19:22

That's why I've left my DCs til last to buy for.

I’ve done most of the family, plus the children’s stockings. Just need to get for OH and the children’s main presents.

I buy throughout the year and am always on the lookout for a bargain. I actually have a few presents for Xmas 2020, already.

Sn0tnose · 04/10/2019 14:15

DH is done other than a couple of last minute bits. I just need to buy boots for my DM and pyjamas & sweets for DB & SIL and then I’m done.

I do start in the summer though, just to spread the cost so I never have to worry about it.

MovinOnUp · 05/10/2019 01:45

I've got both DC's stocking fillers and main present from Santa.
I've got them something to read, Still need to get want, wear and need.
All SIL, BIL's and their various children are done.
My parents and boyfriends parents still to buy for.

I have been buying bits and bobs of food and drink to stash away also.
I'll be done by the end of October.

Arrowfanatic · 06/10/2019 13:30

I'm almost done with my kids, but that is it. I'm starting a new job soon so just waiting for my first payday to carry on.

stargirl1701 · 06/10/2019 13:32

Nope. Not a thing. Just putting money into a Christmas savings account. I'll start during Advent.

WagtailRobin · 08/10/2019 02:00

I do my mum's shopping, I have no children yet myself but we're a big family and my mum still believes in buying for everyone.

I started in July, just getting 1 or 2 a week, nearly finished, all mum's grandchildren are done bar 3, 2 will be getting vouchers for a sports shop, the other money in a card. Then all of her own children are done bar 1 and I'll be finishing his off this weekend. I've bought additional stuff tonight for a couple of my nieces/mum's granddaughters, I really shouldn't have but I couldn't resist. I still need to get presents from me to my mum and she still "needs" to buy for me but we are fully on top of Christmas thank goodness.

Cherryrainbow · 08/10/2019 15:39

Kids are more or less done just need to buy for the adults. Honestly they're harder to buy for lol
