Where to start with Playmobil for a 4 year old?

Would welcome thoughts on first Playmobil sets! DS is four (and quite a young four, summer birthday), and is very into role playing games with his toys - much of this is transport-related but he also has some Peppa Pig characters that he gets to act out stories, etc. I’m wondering if he might be ready for Playmobil.

Any thoughts on good first sets for a child this age? Was anything a particular hit in your house?

I would say the small house that opens up or the zoo.

The house is called take along moden doll house. My DC have had this years and still play with it.

That sounds promising - I did wonder about the Peppa Pig house but would prefer something non-character, if you see what I mean. Will take a look - thanks!

Whatever you get make sure you build it in advance. DS got the fire engine when he was 4 or 5 and it took soooooo long to put together.

We inherited a digger and a big aeroplane and both have been well played with.

The zoo!!!

Playmobil have a range called 123 in yellow boxes. Best for beginners

Thank you - some great ideas here.

@imsorryiasked, that is excellent advice!

Mine loved the rubbish collection truck at that age

We got my four year old a load of playmobil last Christmas when he was 3.5.

Loved the stuff.

Fire engines are the biggest hit here. Castles. Police. We have a lot of vehicles and they play for hours with it!

I think vehicles are good for that age, as you don't tend to get loads of fiddly bits with them.
Particularly big hits here were the horse box and car, the lorry, and the coach.
Playground and the swimming pool are also excellent - but it is hard to resist the temptation to fill the swimming pool with water.

Our son turned four recently. He’a Never been into the rubbish trucks that his brother has, but the camper van and small pirate ship are getting lots of love. We’re looking at the playground or take-along house for Christmas.

Sorry, i was going to add, if you are giving sets for Christmas, do consider building them beforehand. Our older son received the fire engine and station one year. The stress of putting together really fiddly pieces (that our son immediately pulled apart!) and the time taken nearly ruined Christmas!

The vet clinic playset is lovely and comes with lots of little animals. It's a carry set so can be put away easily without losing pieces - they all just live inside it! My DNs have this and they love it.

The camper van is a brilliant first set.

Ds had Noah's ark as his first playmobil. It has had years of being played with, was even used in the bath on many occasions. It's still looking good now and he is about to turn 18. Needless to say, he doesn't play with it anymore!

We have also had zoos, farms, airplane and knights castle. None of them were played with as much as the Noah's ark though. It also didn't need any building and so didn't collapse easily, unlike some of the others!
