Best toot toot sets?

DS2 will be 14 months old at Christmas. He loves wheels, cars, tractors and watching ride on lawnmowers when the grass opposite our house gets cut so we're thinking toot toot might be a good option. I've picked up a second hand bundle of vehicles and track, but we're wanting to get a set or two to go with them.

What are people's favourite sets please for this age group? We'd like it to grow with him ideally, and be something we can point people towards in future if asked for gift ideas - I like toys that go together instead of a load of random bits! My eldest wasn't into toot toot so we only had the track and a couple of cars for him so I'm feeling a bit lost, I didn't realise there was such a range!

My dc had lots of toot toot. Their favourite pieces were probably the construction site, police station, anything animal/pet related e.g zoo and my dd particularly liked the house.

We've got lots of toot toot and my recommendation would be something that mostly stays together as one piece ie fire station. You can play with it as a standalone or add track etc to it.

We have a zoo and a jungle but they come apart into a million pieces and to be honest they are a faff to put together and take apart again, bits get lost or mixed up. There's too many parts to it.

Ones with no batteries Grin you'll thank me later

DS3 plays with the garage the most. I'd probably avoid getting the airport, too many pieces and my son still can't quite get the hang of how it works

toot toot garage

Luxplus · 22/09/2019 18:56

We had the plane for ours and that was a hit for severel years

Pipersouth · 22/09/2019 19:08

Definitely the garage for us

LivingDeadGirlUK · 22/09/2019 19:11

I got a tree house with aninals second hand and my son loves it as he is really into animals.

Dd likes the fire station but its not her favourite toy. She really enjoys the incessantly annoying fire truck that sings songs that don't rhyme or make any sense. I far prefer the ambulance.

SerafinaPekkalasbroomstick · 22/09/2019 19:58

None of it it's the most annoying toy ever Grin get happyland instead!!

theatrenerd31 · 22/09/2019 21:53

We're saving happyland for next year as he'd just chew it at the moment - I had it for older ds and love it though!

Thank you, point taken about looking at how many pieces! I'm leaning towards the fire station I think, looks like it might have enough to let the 6yo "help" while not being too fiddly? Tbf at the moment the baby will love anything with wheels and annoying music!

Don't get the amusement park! So many pieces, it's huge and easily pulled apart. We have the airport but haven't set it up yet.

DS is 2, we bought an IKEA kids carpet (has town, roads ect on it) and several toot toot car sets and the single road track (the track sets the cars off) and he loves this more than anything.

EdtheBear · 23/09/2019 05:29

Watch out for some sets being massive and not going in a box!

TheBrockmans · 23/09/2019 05:50

Just hope you didn't get the second hand stuff from Dave Gorman

Whitecandle · 23/09/2019 09:43

My little boy will be 1 at Christmas and I've just bought the fire station and the ultimate RC speedway - got them second hand though.

Happy as you can join those together! When he is a little bigger I definitely want the garage too.

Whitecandle · 23/09/2019 09:44

Sorry. The train station not fire station.

HarryPotterFan436 · 24/09/2019 14:34

The fire engine is the most annoying toy ever. I hate it and am forever threatening to throw it in the bin.

MuchTooTired · 29/09/2019 23:30

The motorised train is brilliant. Doesn’t need to be on the track, my DS loves it. He also loves the walking unicorn that flaps its wings, so had to buy two as my DTs fought over the one - DS plays with both now, and DD knocks them over and laughs 😏
