Lego Hogwarts Express around Christmas tree

DS7 wants the Lego Hogwarts Express for Christmas (along with all the other HP Lego Shock).
DH is a Lego enthusiast but is very rusty.
We’d like to motorise the Hogwarts Express and have it going around the base of the tree.
Anyone done this?

We’ve done it with the usual Lego train. I don’t see why you couldn’t build the motor into the Hogwart’s Express in the same way? Instructions for the other trains will be online.

We did it with a flego train - I’ve no idea of the specifics. Got a great idea on here a few years ago to wrap empty boxes like presents and cut tunnels for the train to go through. Real presents can be piled on top and around the fake ones.

You really do need a wooden floor rather than carpet though!

This is a lovely idea OP!
I’m currently looking for HP Lego bargains on eBay etc as DS9 and DD6 both love all things hp and fantastic beasts

Lovely idea.

I want to buy the Hogwarts Express Lego set for my DS. Any ideas on where does the best prices? Does it usually get included in Christmas/Black Friday offers?

I believe you can but it requires modifications... you should be able to google how it’s done.

The Lego Christmas train has a battery powered engineer to buy with it that fits - it’s about 30quid, can imagine that you can do the same for the HP train.
You may need extra track, we do for ours when it’s under the tree.
It no longer goes under the tree now as DH has a full Lego Xmas village which gets built and the train now lives with that Grin
