Any recommendations for a good scooter for a 3 1/2 yr old?

Any advice most welcome. Recipient average height will be 3 1/2 at Christmas. Previously had a cheap character 3 wheel which she received as a gift last year, it's been barely touched, most probably because she doesn't feel stable on it. But for the past year shes tried every mini micro or globber around. In shops, in park, at her friends and most recently at nursery where they are parked up and she thinks they are free to try. So her mum and dad have decided to bite bullet and buy her a sturdier one. Just which one to go for is the confusing bit. Go for a mini micro and she will out grow it quickly, a maxi too big? Or globber. Very have micros on offer at moment so they're a bit cheaper if she outgrows quickly. Thank you in advance for reading my post.

i would go for a mini micro, as they are intended for children up to age 5. it might be worth looking on gumtree to see if you can get one second hand x

Mine have had mini micro scooters since age 2 but we didn't really use them much until they were 3, so I think 3 is the perfect age. Mine have used them until getting a new one at 6, if you compare one to a price of a pram or buggy you use for about the same length of time, it's good value. Plus you can sell it or pass to a younger sibling after. OR you can go straight for a maxi. The maxi at lowest handle height is the same as a mini. But at this age you will probably be carrying it often so lighter may be better.

I have never heard of Globber, but I've seen kids struggling on imitation micro scooters and character scooters so I'm always a bit wary of anything else.

Thank you both for your replies, they have been genuinely helpful in us making the right choice. We've gone for mini micro deluxe (£65 at the minute on very) in her favourite colour purple. User you are right cost per use it is good value, sleepismysuperpower I had a quick look at second hand in our area and there wasnt much about and those that were the price difference wasn't too much, but thank you for suggesting it I do love gumtree and have had some fab finds for little one over years. Thank you for both suggesting micro, if we had gone for maxi it might have been to big and heavy and put her off. I popped in our local halfords this afternoon and they had a few genuine micro accessories reduced to silly prices and picked up a flower, wheel light things and carry strap all for less than £10. Thank you x

DS is 3.5 and has the isporter. It felt just as sturdy as the micro and is holding up fab. Also has light up wheels which makes DS happy. Was cheaper than the micro and would definitely recommend

@Mrsfussypants1 I cant find it on offer at Very. Is there any chance you could post a link to it? Great job getting all the accessories for such a good price!

Mini micro deluxe, it's height adjustable so worth the extra £10 compared to the mini micro

Dd is 5 and she's still got loads of adjustments in the handle bars left to use

IamChipmunk · 18/09/2019 13:14

My ds has a globber. Its good, 3 wheels very sturdy but also light and easy to manouvre. It is adjustable for height and folds up for easy transport!

Beanbag 7 the offer ended Sunday night, when I clicked on Monday it was back up to full price. Do you have an old scooter you could trade in? I'm only asking because halfords offer 20% off scooter or bike when you trade in an old one. They're colours are limited but they may get more in for new season. Also JoJo maman babe sell micro scooters and accessories and if you sign up online as new customer you can get 10% off. Hope that helps x

Also a lot of Halfords are selling the official accessories for a £2-5 as the micro accessories haven't sold well in stores. And micro themselves usually have black Friday deals. x
