DD has just turned 3 and got lots of lovely new toys... to the point my house looks like Smyth's toy shop and its driving me mad 😂

We defo cannot buy anymore toys, So what can I get for a 3yo that isn't a toy! I did think a big Wendy house but we want to move so that would just cause us more stress when it comes to moving 🥴 then I thought a bike but that means taking her out on it in the cold and ill have a new baby.

HELP!

Small wooden kitchen or wooden cooker with wooden play food?

HJWT · 13/09/2019 16:20

@HennyPennyHorror She has a kitchen! Got that last birthday 🤦🏻‍♀️

She already has - Kitchen, Pram, Baby & bed, Happy land, Our generation Doll, Car, Horse & outfits, Paw patrol cars, Building blocks (3 kinds), Hair dresser set, Books, all the small figures inc LOL, Barbies with pool, Doctor set, builders set, Jigsaws, Lots of teddy's.

Thats of the top of my head! As you can tell if anything we need to give some toys away! Does not help having a large family and everyone will want to buy her a toy of some sort! I think they will be getting told clothing only this year I really cant cope with anymore toys 😂

Fill a box with plasticine, feathers, pom poms, stickers, coloured paper etc. It'll keep her happy for hours while you are busy with the baby and as a bonus it'll all get used up!

angelopal · 13/09/2019 16:24

Any kids shows coming up? DD got tickets for a show one year. Are there any places nearby that do season tickets?

Does she have craft stuff, art boxes, play dough, stamp sets, chalkboard?

Books or book tokens so she can pick her own.

TheStakeIsNotThePower · 13/09/2019 16:24

Or start building up a duplo collection.

HJWT · 13/09/2019 16:26

@angelopal a show sounds like a great idea but I don't think she would sit through one!

At this rate ill just have to wrap up some of the toys she already has take them away now so she forgets about them 😳😬

@angelopal I could replace all of her craft stuff thats a good plan she has had it a while 😊

A balance bike or a scooter are great presents at that age.

Other non-toy ideas:
Bedding with a favourite character on.
Kid's apron with a character or her name on
One of those cushions with flippy sequins on
Books
A pack of that scratch art paper
Something ceramic to paint.
A picture for her room
Swimming bag or toys
Pjs of a favourite character
Sprudels for the bath

HJWT · 13/09/2019 17:56

@Stompythedinosaur some great suggestions there! Thank you 😊

Dress up outfits? My dd is 4 and spends most of her time these days pretending to be a princess etc

HJWT · 13/09/2019 19:49

@FantasticPhyllis she has a couple of princess dress up bits she got last year and doesn't really bother with them! I thought by now she would be into something like frozen/princesses Moana etc but she can't sit through 5 minutes of the films haha x

Are you near a zoo? Could you get a membership for her that you could use through the year?

BeanBag7 · 14/09/2019 08:00

TBH I think rewrapping some toys she already has wouldnt be the worst idea, it sounds like has too many!

Do you have any craft stuff? I got a plastic box from hobbycraft and bought a load of craft bits - poster paint, pom poms, PVA glue, pipecleaners, foam eggs, stickers, stamps, coloured paper and card. We love doing crafty bits together and I have stuff to make pretty much any "toddler craft " you might find on pinterest.

BeanBag7 · 14/09/2019 08:01

Also I agree with getting membership for a zoo/farm/theme park. However it's not very exciting for a 3 year old to open on christmas day.

HJWT · 14/09/2019 09:29

@BeanBag7 I think we are going to get her the wooden Asda doll house & furniture and some new craft bits! At least then she can play with all her little figures with the house and its something she will use for years (that I can also put in her room 😁)

The Zoo membership is a great idea to she loves animals! X

how about a tent? we have the Ikea circus one that cost under £20 which dds who are nearly 11 and 7 still use. when they were little and we all fitted comfortably we used to take blankets and pillows inside to read bedtime stories. they've had it in the garden and play with their toys inside. folds flat so we store it behind the bed when not being used.

a dolls house is a lovely idea, we didn't get one until this year as mine loved happyland too much and used all their figures in there (still do!!)

if she likes LOL there are some new dolls out soon called the winter disco - you can put water in the balls so they are like glitter globes. dd2 has already asked for these for Christmas. they are wintery themed only watched a million YouTube videos on them with dd2!

dressing up if she's not into characters how about a box of funny hats/accessories? flying tiger and charity shops are great for that. mine loved a fancy hat, handbag and junk jewellery at that age :)

HJWT · 14/09/2019 10:06

@nocutsnobuttsnococonuts she already has a teepee in her room! But some great suggestions, maybe I can get her some animal masks she would love that!

You lot are making my list longer & longer 😂 x

Micro scooter - pricey compared to others but life savers and stand the test of time

ResetPassword · 15/09/2019 11:09

Another suggestion for a dressing up box. It doesn't need to be merchandise stuff like Cinderella / Spiderman etc. Lots of silly hats, feather boa, handbags, cheap jewellery, builders outfit, have a look in the sale after Halloween.

But really it sounds like she has lots of lovely things already, try not to feel forced into buying more just for the sake of it - she won't understand the value Wink

HJWT · 15/09/2019 16:33

@ResetPassword Yeah exactly! I don't want to buy her more toys because its christmas and thats what your suppose to do 🤷🏻‍♀️ then again her attitude is so bad lately she will be lucky to get a lump of coal & an orange 😂
