7yr old DS-what can he play on his own?!

Hi
I’m an avid follower of the Christmas threads and was hoping someone might have some ideas of presents we can buy for 7 yr old DS that he can play with independently?
I’ve got some jigsaws but I’m keen for him to develop the skill of playing on his own, and not just on the IPad! Any ideas?
Thanks!

My 7 yr old enjoys Lego, Hot wheels & magnetic building toys

Gravitrax is good. My ds9 plays with his Star Wars Lego everyday. Before Star Wars it was Lego City sets he was into.

Thinkfun games

Thanks for the suggestions! He went through a massive Lego phase but seems less bothered at the moment-he is pretty good at least keeping himself busy but it often involves IPad or TV and I’m keen to get him some games he can play. Thanks!

My nephew loves creative things, like colouring, painting, and colour by numbers are his favourites. I agree puzzles are great.

If I can think of anything else I’ll let you. I’ve got an only child so when he was into toys (now 14) I became a pro at searching for one player games and activities!

FurrySlipperBoots · 11/09/2019 19:58

Apart from board games, I'm thinking anything can be played alone! But I recommend a marble run. One of those big complex ones with lots of interactive pieces.

Etch a sketch, not sure if they still make it.

One for the summer is swing ball!

There's a company called Smart Games that makes 1 player puzzle games. My dd got Jump In for her 7th birthday and loved it.

mamabluestar · 22/09/2019 16:51

I've been googling the above suggestions and the company Think fun seem to have several different games
