Christmas shopping in NYC

DH and I going to New York in December, while there, we are thinking of doing some of our Christmas shopping for our teenage dds. Are things such as trainers and clothes cheaper over there?

the $ is pretty bad at the moment - but there is a huge outlet 1 hour from Manhatten called Woodbury common you will get everything much cheaper there - the bus depot manhatten does trips there

I had the same plan a few years ago - the exchange rate was better than it is now and I still bought hardly anything.

It’s really not much cheaper and I was expecting there to be much more stuff you can’t buy here and there really wasn’t

Last time I went I checked the prices of stuff whilst we queued to pay and 9 times out of 10 it was cheaper back home.

So I didn't bother.

Not cheaper but there's probably make up in sephora that isn't easy to get here which they might like?

Also the drugstores will have Christmas candy which could be nice for stocking fillers.

I recently bought a lot in Florida, biggest bargains came from Ross which is like tk maxx. I did spend on things i cant buy here, bath and body works mainly. Lots of bits from Ulfa and Sephora too

no they're not cheaper - sorry. I was there a couple of weeks ago, and found it was probably more expensive. We just stuck to buying things that you can't get here, or you can't order online. Plus a huge holdall of ridiculous sweets and cereals.

My teen dds love American Eagle, so we did do a spree there which they enjoyed. But Nike's aren't any cheaper.

2nd vote for Woodbury common- fabulous outlet for shopping, in fact I believe there are another 2 outlets that are easy to get to as well! Best place for bargains x

Just come back after our 5th trip
Used to be cheaper but much more expensive now
Can get some good bargains in Macy’s sometimes but also recommend Woodbury common
Well worth the bus trip as up to 75% off top brands
