13 year old girls - what to buy....

Hi all

What are you buying your 13/14 year olds. My daughter turns 14 not long after Christmas and she has no idea what she wants other than a pair of black hollister jeans!
I'm thinking of getting her a mirrored jewellery 'armoire' for her wall as she has a ridiculous amount of earrings and I know she'd like this but literally have no other real ideas apart from the usual bath bombs etc.
So any help greatly appreciated....

Dd is 12 nearly thirteen- her main present will be a laptop as our home PC has recently died during a house move.
Other bits and pieces will be
Starbucks gift card
Colourchanging remote controlled lightbulb for her room
Gucci bloom perfume
Sweets/ chocolate
Compulsory bottle of matey bubble bath
Light up mirror
Book
PJ’s
She’ll also have a body shop advent calendar

This includes gifts from GP’s.

ScoobySnacker · 08/09/2019 18:20

I have the same problem with DD of same age. Totally stuck so watching this thread I the hope of some good ideas. So far I have a couple of bits from Sass and Belle and that's it!! DD was also born Christmas Day so double ideas needed Confused

Sunshine196 · 08/09/2019 18:34

My daughter is 8 so a little bit younger but I anticipate there's not going to be much on her list. I'm thinking of a stackers jewellery box as she's just had her ears pierced & has started to build up her collection. You can get them personalised & add more to it as required

Macmaccat · 08/09/2019 18:42

My daughter had just turned 14. Last year she had dance stuff, AirPods, a light box, a hoodie from pink and soap and glory stuff.

No idea what to get her this year although she’s hinted at hair straighteners

snowmanshoes · 08/09/2019 20:17

Ooh yes forgot about an illuminated mirror - she could do with one of those actually. She was eyeing up a sand timer in Next the other day so I think I'll look for one of those too that matches her room.

Where do you buy matey bubble bath these days? I look every year.

MrsPnut · 08/09/2019 20:20

DD is 13 and wants a leopard gecko for Christmas but that wouldn’t be to everyone’s taste.
She got air pods for her birthday and they are used every day so definitely a great gift.

LifeOfBox · 08/09/2019 20:21

New laptop here. DD has got my 15 year old MacBook Pro and it isn't too happy these days.

It definitely won't be a MacBook, budget around £500 and the only gift from me.

ourkidmolly · 08/09/2019 20:27

@RuffleCrow
It's available on Amazon.

Crackery · 08/09/2019 22:01

a weighted hula hoop is our current fave idea.. for fitness and for a bit of fun.

Imustbemad00 · 08/09/2019 22:02

This is my list so far, it’s for birthday and Xmas, I won’t get all of it, but will get more smaller/cheaper bits and clothes
iPhone
Airpods
Trainers
Dressing gown
Nike coat
Earrings
Pandora charm
Hair straightener
Phone case
Stationary

Milicentbystander72 · 08/09/2019 22:07

My 14 year is begging for a Polaroid camera.

I might begetting her an illuminated mirror (great idea!).
Body Shop stuff
New headphones
New pyjama bottoms (checked cotton ones).
A nice quality jumper

I don't generally start shopping until late November so I gave a while yet for ideas.

RuffleCrow · 08/09/2019 22:07

Thanks ourkid Smile

bookmum08 · 08/09/2019 22:17

I see matey bubblebath in loads of retailers - B+M, Poundstretchers/Bargain Buys, Home Bargains, Wilkos etc. You don't need to go to Amazon!
(no clue what 13 year old girls want though - does no one buy their teens books any more?)

Toomanycats99 · 08/09/2019 22:20

My dd is 12. She has an Alexa in her room so I'm thinking of getting her a Philips hue colour changing lightbulb.

Got some friends pj's for her.

Dont really know other than that.

bookmum08 · 08/09/2019 22:21

(apologies - Nearlyadoctor has book on her list)

SunshineAngel · 08/09/2019 22:38

I remember when I was 13, I loved things like shower gel and smelly sets, perfumes, hair things, and then also things like PJs and snuggly slippers etc. I was a simple child.

Also, could anyone help me? I don't know how to see where someone has quoted you in a thread, and I must be missing things as I've asked questions.

Please help me :(. I will check this thread in case somebody replies!! TIA!

Careradvice2019 · 08/09/2019 22:45

does Tesco sell matey bubble bath?

newreality1 · 08/09/2019 23:07

Suggestions/ideas I have been given so far (nothing bought yet):

Morphe eyeshadow pallette
earrings
cordless straightening brush
Trainers
Starbucks Giftcard
Scrunchies
bullet journal
Primark Giftcard
Jack Wills sweat pants
River Island purse/bag
Phone charger (a better quality one)
Power bank
Illuminated mirror
A framed picture board for her bedroom (the one with little pegs where you can clip on photographs-think it is from New Look)
Airpods

Titsywoo · 08/09/2019 23:13

Wireless headphones
Lush bathbonbs
Mug with a side pocket for biscuits (she loves tea!)
One of those wheat bags you heat in the microwave but this one is a panda shaped one
Colour changing light strip to attach to the bottom of her shelves (Can be controlled by alexa)
Art stuff
New dressing gown
Vouchers

PictureWall · 08/09/2019 23:14

We do quite a set pattern for all our kids of Xmas eve pjs, then stocking fillers, one thing to read, one thing to wear and one main pressie.

For our 13 year old the main pressie will be tickets to a Lewis Capaldi gig. The book will be the second book in the Flowers in the Attic series and the thing to wear will be from Brandy Melville as she’s obsessed. Stocking fillers will be nice socks, nice underwear, earring studs, lip gloss, new phone case etc.

Nearlyadoctor · 09/09/2019 10:05

@RuffleCrow I always buy Matey in Tesco

user1573624 · 09/09/2019 23:20

My list may be adapted but I think:

Back to the Future musical tickets
Rainbow Vans or glitter Dr Martens
Sushi Go card game
Wreck this Journal
Pokémon Sword Nintendo Switch game
Divergent box set books
Akiko Higashimura manga
Like the idea of the Philips light bulb above

Joyfulincolour · 10/09/2019 07:39

I’ve had success with this in previous years and feel it can be adapted for various ages:
Buy a really nice diary / planner / organiser and each month (or how often you want / can afford) put in a voucher / ticket / iou for an experience. They can be from very cheap to expensive. Previous things I’ve used:
Costa voucher, concert / theatre tickets, milkshake voucher, cinema tickets/ voucher, Go Ape experience, cupcake decorating class and a glass art class.
It’s easy to adapt to the age of the child.

mumontherun14 · 10/09/2019 10:03

What about hobby stuff? Does she do any sports or clubs?

My DD really into horses so she is asking mainly for new bits of kit, new boots outfits etc and a show jacket for competitions.

This is the girl who last year asked for a wheelbarrow!

I'll also get her trainers, outfit, pjamas, soap & glory set, books dressing gown slippers bed socks etc. Board game - I saw Stranger Things monopoly she would like that. She also loves Friends & Harry Potter so any bits like that. I saw a Harry Potter trivial pursuits card game on Amazon for a stocking filler.

Possibly a fitbit as well - she hasn't asked for that but she and my son are really sporty so I think they would like them and use them
