13 year old girls - what to buy....

Hi all

What are you buying your 13/14 year olds. My daughter turns 14 not long after Christmas and she has no idea what she wants other than a pair of black hollister jeans!
I'm thinking of getting her a mirrored jewellery 'armoire' for her wall as she has a ridiculous amount of earrings and I know she'd like this but literally have no other real ideas apart from the usual bath bombs etc.
So any help greatly appreciated....

@PictureWall thanks for the Brandy Melville mention. Not a store I had heard of but looks right up DDs street. Will definitely be taking some ideas from there.

PictureWall · 11/09/2019 06:43

I’m amazed by the length of some peoples’ lists. How much do you all spend on each child’s Christmas presents?

Skyejuly · 11/09/2019 07:50

@newreality1 Boots have joined up with Morphe and have the James Charles and Jeffery Star pallets available from today. I know they were hard to come by last year so giving you the heads up in case you want to get in early No discount tho !

Toomanycats99 · 11/09/2019 13:26

@mumontherun14

I bought a friends beach towel for £3 in primark yesterday! (Still marked as £8 on shelf)

newreality1 · 11/09/2019 17:57

@ScoobySnacker Thank you so much for that information. I had no idea Boots were teaming up with Morphe. Thank you!

ScoobySnacker · 11/09/2019 18:08

No problem @newreality1 they are on waiting list release today and general release tomorrow Smile

onyourway · 11/09/2019 18:19

This was the most popular present from last year.....waterproof too...
I found this at John Lewis. What do you think? https://www.johnlewis.com/ultimate-ears-wonderboom-bluetooth-waterproof-portable-speaker/Phantom-Black/p3194561?tmad=c&tmcampid=7&sshare=jlappioss_Y29tLmFwcGxlLlVJS2l0LmFjdGl2aXR5LkNvcHlUb1Bhc3RlYm9hcmQ=

What about a self-care hamper?

Nice candle, face mask, chocolate, mindful colouring book etc.

scrappydappydoo · 11/09/2019 20:23

DD is 13 - She wants lots of eco stuff - reusable straws, reusable coffee cup, reusable cotton pads etc etc
I’ll get her some clothes, books, a board game and lots of ‘cool’ stationery.
She really wants the friends Lego set but at £70 that’s more of a birthday present rather than Christmas but I might find some other friends related stocking fillers...

BestofLuck · 11/09/2019 20:43

My dd is 12 so will watch with interest and add ideas when I can.

Hobbies are a great way in. Mine is learning to ice skate so am thinking of things related to that - skate covers or bag, etc. Will get some Harry Potter bits no doubt.

Have seen mention of this HP Sprocket printer on another thread, although is more than I’d pay.

Have got her an advent calendar with earrings for each day which was a good price on Amazon.

Nannyloubie · 13/09/2019 06:48

Asda have matey bubble bath

iwantavuvezela · 16/09/2019 11:15

can anyone recommend me the airpods that they have bought - I am not looking at the iPhone ones which are very expensive, (and risk been lost or left on a bus) but I see there are quite a few listed around £40 - £50 - any good recommendations here?

Sooverthemill · 16/09/2019 11:19

For my niece when she was a teenager I always arranged a day out shopping. Gave her a budget and she could buy anything she wanted up to that limit ( usually clothes sometimes make up) and I'd take her for lunch. I only had one niece and had 6 nephews and no kids of my own at the time and it seemed to be a lovely treat for us both. Often did it on a Saturday in a bigger town than where we lived. I miss those days!

Hi @SunshineAngel, if somebody puts the '@' symbol before your username, you should get an email telling you that you have been mentioned in a post. Otherwise, people just simply highlight your name and you'll have to go looking through for that. To find the threads again, go to 'I'm Watching' at the top of the page and it will take you to all the threads you have posted in, and any you have bookmarked.
Hope that helps! Xmas Smile

LifeOfBox · 17/09/2019 17:14

iwantavuvezela, I have got these and these.

If they are not cool enough Anker do these which are more like AirPods.

Anker replaced one of the second ones for me without hesitation six months in so I would recommend Anker, and both sets of headphones. I actually prefer the shape of the wired ones in my ear.

My DD is 13 and will turn 14 shortly after Christmas. Last year I took her and my DS on separate shopping trips and let them pick a pair of trainers they wanted and gave budget of £100. They were thrilled and I gave them choice of do you want me to still wrap them up to be opened Christmas Day and they said yes! After buying the trainers I took my son to costa for drink and a snack and with my daughter we met up with a couple of my girlfriends for lunch together so we made a day of it both times. Think I will do same again this year as they always seem to want more trainers.

For her birthday DD got Shawn mendes tickets last year.

I always get them a calendar a book, toiletries stationary for school some sweets/chocolate a perfume from market do just stocking fillers really and things which are needed anyway but I just wrap them up so got more to open.

My partner buys my DS the new fifa each year but that is most definitely because he wants it himself hahaha and then he evens things out by giving my DD a new look voucher.

Cocoismydog · 17/09/2019 20:11

The wonderboom is excellent and well worth the money. My DC links it to their echo dot and takes it in the bathroom when showering, bathing etc.

Sweetpea84 · 20/09/2019 21:46

My DD who is 14 will be getting

Trainers
Stranger things monopoly
Amazon vouchers
Something from Pandora
Ck underwear
Clothes
Gucci perfume.

She has just got an iPhone XR and apple air pods so she’s not getting as much. Though it does look loads Blush

stucknoue · 20/09/2019 21:58

We have always done pjs and fluffy socks, always a book, headphones because they break at some point anyway, make up, bodyspray, then a main present - trying to remember but I think that year we got a PS4 between us all and went to a show in London. We don't buy presents for the sake of it at Christmas, I would rather buy them jeans or whatever when they are needed than wait to 25/12 - but some years they get generous gifts eg a laptop or a phone it's about needs/wants rather than finding something.

gostiwooz · 20/09/2019 22:15

Gift card? - Paperchase, New Look, Argos, Nando's, H&M, Primark etc.

Always went down well with mine.

wildhairdontcare · 21/09/2019 00:52

DD is 14 almost 15, she has genuinely said 'just surprise me' [santa]

We are thinking;

Smart TV
Nike Air Force trainers
Perfume
Denim jacket
Levis high waisted jeans
Morphe eyeshadow pallet
Make up brushes
Cinema voucher
Concert ticket

snowmanshoes · 21/09/2019 09:35

I’ve just ordered a morphe eyeshadow palette and eye brushes set (used code 4UBABE for 20% off) and with the saved tenner bought an eyeshadow technique book from Amazon - hopefully when it comes it’ll be good!

Vaguely organised and picked up summer sale hoody and T-shirt from Superdry for nearly 13 yr old DD. Also a half price toiletry bag from Fatface. Will keep a look out for inexpensive fragrances from Body Shop & Superdrug. She really likes the Bloom lime & basil and the Japanese Blossom ones. Main present will probably be art stuff - ££ copic pens!

shannie · 21/09/2019 10:42

I've a 14 in Dec dd too. Lots of great ideas. What do you do about concert tickets ? How many do you buy? I can't quite figure it out or do you still go with them ?
