What are you buying for your 7-8year old boys this year? I have no idea!! And when I ask him he says 'iPhone.' Which I'm not going to get him as he's too young imo!!

He's not into Lego/play Mobil.

He's quite creative though, arts and crafts etc!

Any ideas of what your DS would like this year??

Last year we bought our then 7 year old a bike, a leather jacket which went down well, football kit, a subscription to a magazine (Nat geo kids), tickets to theatre and football, electronic snap circuits which were a hit, board games, books. My mum bought him something called a flash pad which is basically little games you play by pressing buttons which he has enjoyed.

livingthegoodlife · 05/09/2019 14:24

No idea!! I'm in this dilemma too.

My husband has suggested a Raspberry Pi computer to build himself...

Mine would like Harry potter anything.

Smiggle stuff?

New scooter?

I might get ours new ski goggles.

Still need an idea that is a toy though. 7 year olds are difficult!

micemicemice · 05/09/2019 14:29

its my DS's 7th birthday soon,
We have got him an electric scooter, army toys, nerf gun, board games like humpty dumptys brick wall and buckaroo, clothes, toy story 4 toys and lego.

micemicemice · 05/09/2019 14:29

oh and also some merch from the people he watches on youtube which is going to be his favorite thing!

changingeverything2019 · 05/09/2019 14:36

Look at the Happy Puzzle Company.
My 7 yo DS always loves whatever I get from them. And the owner is lovely, very hands on. I got a really nice personal email from him after a positive comment I made about his games.

Our son turns 7 at Christmas. He is having a bike for one, and probably a magazine subscription and science set for the other.

A big hit here at the moment is a Snap Circuits electronics kit. He also loves Hexbugs (the zipwires are cool).

BrieAndChilli · 05/09/2019 18:47

Den making kit.
Science kits
Subscription to The week Junior
Proper toolkit for kids. DS has one and he loves hammering away in the garden with DH
DS would be very happy with cardboard boxes and a roll of duck tape!!

livingthegoodlife · 05/09/2019 19:57

Den making is a good idea. I think mine would enjoy that. Although I think I'd buy the bits separately rather than a kit.

Stompythedinosaur · 05/09/2019 20:47

My dd really enjoyed an animation set last year at that age. We had the Stickbot one.

AnnaMariaDreams · 05/09/2019 21:10

DS7 wants all the Harry Potter Lego.
He’d also like some surprises apparently!

MotherForkinShirtBalls · 05/09/2019 21:10

Would he like a camera? Ds is 7 and loves his VTech one. Dd is a bit older and sounds more like your ds's personality and loves her Nikon point and shoot. She's a bit older though..

mummyrocks1 · 05/09/2019 21:20

My son loves maths and strategy games. I am getting him the ticket to ride game and other kingdomino. I also going to get him bear grills books as he's just started reading independently and a joke book as he loves making up jokes.

I was also thinking of getting him a kindle type thing to encourage reading. It will have no games on it

katienana · 06/09/2019 20:42

My ds turns 7 in a few weeks I was thinking about a go pro but have no idea if they are suitable for kids or how expensive they are?
He has asked for this laser blaster set
www.smythstoys.com/uk/en-gb/toys/action-figures-and-playsets/other-action-figures-and-playsets/lazer-x-morph-double-pack/p/176668
He's got into horrible histories lately so probably some of the books would go down well. Joke book is a fab idea!
YouTube merch I know he would LOVE but I dont know if I can bring myself to do it!

Isadora2007 · 06/09/2019 20:45

@katienana amazon have good £20 odd fake go pro cameras.

Parttimewasteoftime · 06/09/2019 20:53

Hot wires it's circuit based my two love it!

GreenIsTheNewPurple · 06/09/2019 21:05

My 7 year old loves Preston from Preston plays...minecraft YouTuber. He has t shirts, hoodies and no doubt lots of other stuff. Bought some t shirts from eBay. Decent enough quality.

Audiobooks? T shirt printing kit?

GinTonic123 · 08/09/2019 08:50

Good Morning, my seven year old would love a slime making set, science sets, detective stuff (finger printing, code cracking etc) books, audio cds. He also like Beyblades.
