Any ideas for 5 year old dd?

Usually I'm stuck for ideas for my ds, he's 14 but this year I have loads of ideas and I'm not sure about the 5 yr old!
She was into peppa pig , pj masks last year but I think that's a bit too young. She wants a new bike so that's main present. I got a couple of books, aquabeads, and Lego set but that's all. She doesn't like dolls and I'm not keen on plastic tat.. Any ideas?

My dd whos 5 is in to programming and spy bots. And then she's getting a craft box that we make ourself...

I think a bike, a crafty thing, a book and a construction toy is fine, maybe add in a game of some sort - my 5yo loved Monopoly Junior and Bugs in the kitchen.

I've given up buying for the sake of it, finally learnt 10 years too late that they don't care about all the fillers of they get the thing they really wanted - within reason obviously!

The Melissa and Doug magic set is really good and was loved by dd2 last year at that age. Other popular presents have been a koala onesie, a glitter lamp and a Smiggle pencil case with different buttons to push to make little drawers pop out for all the different items.

Also Dobble is an excellent game at that age.

Also recommend games- Rat a tat cat,
And, Too many monkeys.

Last yr we bought 5 yo dd a google home mini. Was under £30 and she uses it daily for music, weather forecast (!) and jokes!

(Now, tell me your good ideas for 14 yo ds...! )

Rainbowx2 · 27/08/2019 07:56

Thanks some great ideas! @crackery I got my son an echo, wifi light bulbs and plugs. 2 superdry hoodies, a novotion launchpad (hes into music and you can make beats and songs with it) a few books like retro gaming, marvels etc. 2 ps4 games and I'll get a few small stocking fillers.

Some new dressing up stuff if she's into that?
Character pj's
Smiggle stationery
Playmobil or sylvanians toys
Magic set

If she is getting a bike, that sounds plenty. Ours are getting bikes and they will only get 2-3 other small gifts (along the less than £15 Lego type lines).

If you are worried about the size of pile, perhaps wrap up some clothes, PJs etc that she would need anyway, or perhaps some stationary for practicing writing.

My almost-5 yo DD is into Lego, Sylvanians, anything to do with nature/bugs, loves playing outdoors. Here are some of my ideas for her you can pinch!!

What about a stencil set, skipping rope, swing ball, giant camo tarpaulin (yes she’s asked for one of these to make dens!!), age appropriate joke book, an annual, decent fishing/pond dipping net, snuggly hoody and sweatpants (Gap wash and wear really well and always have a variety of colours), one of those bubble wands that makes giant bubbles, Spirograph, magnatiles, bath bombs, glow in the dark face paint, Sylvanian Families, Lego basic bricks, Lego green base plate, Lego friends set, roller skates, kite, if she’s into that sort of thing the Schleich Bayala range looks good, temporary tattoos, lip balm, torch...

Hope some of these help!

allpawsondeck · 27/08/2019 20:40

I might add she’s definitely not getting all of the above, but her birthday is two months before Christmas so I keep a list of ideas as family always ask for specifics which I find really hard to think of!!

Rainbowx2 · 27/08/2019 21:58

Some great ideas! She will love magic set and spirograph wouldn't have thought of them, thanks
