I would like to buy my 2 nieces books for Christmas.
Any recommendations?

could you get personalised books for them? one like this for the 4 year old and one like this for the 5 year old? they are about £20 each though, so if thats out of your price range i would go for this book for the 4 year old and this for the 5 year old x

My 4 year old (5 in Oct) currently loves Mr Men/Little Miss books. Book people do box sets.

How about a lovely poetry book?
I am the Seed that Grew the Tree

Or look at the Barefoot story collections, for something a bit different from fairy tales.

Or how about a complete collection of the Mrs Pepperpot stories?

The Katie Morag stories are lovely for the younger one.
The Mousehole Cat for the older (has a Christmas theme).

You Choose was a huge hit in our house at that age.

There is a sequel called Just Imagine which is just as good if you are looking to give one each.

Yy, my middle one in particular loved You Choose - but perhaps reconsider if you like the parents Grin I found it utter torture to 'read' with him.

My soon to be 5 year old has just read The enormous Crocodile by Roald Dahl and loved it. It’s his first ‘grown up book’ as it took us a few nights to read.
I’ve heard good things about the Claude books so they are next on our hit list.
The faraway tree books are fairly easy to digest too.
Other form favourites include:
Funny bones by Alan Ahlberg
All the Julia Donaldson books (except stick man which he hates with a passion!) but they probably have these
Wonky Donkey (not exactly a classic- but amusing
The 5 year old might enjoy The Worst Witch - but might want to save them for next year

Thanks for the tips.
