I'm giddy already, eager to design my Christmas decor it'll be the same as every other year probably

I want an abundance of candles, twinkly lights, candles that smell of winter and Christmas. Making mulled wine, gingerbread and planning festivities.

Am I on my own here? Confused

Can't we restart poncetastic? I have read that trends this year are a more muted natural type of decoration. I think the Scandi theme is still a thing.

Going to practice my low carb ginger cake next week..I mean more practice means it'll be perfect come December right?!

I'm not wishing any part of my life away but I like the feeling of being organised (not scarily so, I don't have all my presents by November) .
I like being able to enjoy the run up.

I don't have the OhMyGod it's December 17th and I haven't bought ANYTHING, I haven't booked my Ocado slot, I haven't got a cake and I have to go to my MIL for dinner because I didn't buy a turkey .. That is not enjoyable.

I spend less . I can space things out a bit .
I can get through the Festive Period without eating my own bodyweight in Matchmakers on Boxing Day .

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 03/08/2019 13:03

Poncetastic Thread I think starts in November . (I watch from a distance because my Christmas Dinner includes Aunt Bessie Yorkshire Puddings ) Xmas Blush

Scandi is good , as long as Pugs, Llamas, Unicorns are shoved out the window .

Now , gingercake you say................

ChippyMinton · 03/08/2019 13:04

Haven’t RTT yet, but wanted to say I was very excited to buy an advent calendar last week Xmas Smile

ChippyMinton · 03/08/2019 13:06

How cute is this?

Ok summer, off you pop I want to plan Christmas

Poncetastic is 25 September, I think. There was a pre-ponce thread last year. Maybe stated by @VivaJen (sorry for tagging you if it wasn't, Viva!).

I don't think it's too early!

I've started my first Christmas cross stitch which is a present for my mum.

QueenOfIce · 03/08/2019 13:31

I'll be ready for the poncetastic, love your advent @ChippyMinton where did you get it?

I signed up to 2 week trial of the Readly app, it has so many magazine titles I've been able to browse through all of last years Christmas magazines #dedicated Grin

That's lovely @NoWordForFluffy

@70isaLimitNotaTarget I mean come September it's autumn in my head so not too early for a hunk slice of cake is it, it'll never be as nice as my brothers who makes a rich sticky very gingery cake. Maybe I'll just have 1 slice of his!

NoWordForFluffy · 03/08/2019 13:36

That IS dedicated, Queen. Well done you!

I've done more now, that was a few days ago. Mostly green bits. I hadn't realised how faffy the bloody thing was, which is very. 😭😭

Ratbagcatbag · 03/08/2019 13:44

Yey I've found my people. :)

Last year DD was at her dads on Christmas Eve, this time she's with me. I'm super excited. Booking panto tickets this weekend.

Most excitingly we've got Lapland for three nights in December and she doesn't know. (She's 6!). It will be magical.

I've started on my gifts and have reduced my list a lot this year for that. I think that's a good thing though.
My best friend I've bought us some concert tickets for late November as her Christmas present so that's already sorted.

I've also ordered the cutest set of nativity letters saying "believe", which all have angels and sheep and stars on them!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 03/08/2019 16:08

I was looking for my car's LogBook and I found the Good Housekeeping mag from last year (the one we were all searching for Xmas Grin )

I calmly and in a grown up fashion put it aside to continue my search .

I don't think the Car Dealer would've gone for
"Look , I couldn't actually find my LogBook but here's a Christmas mag that was a blighter to track down"

So now I'm off to read it Xmas Grin

Can anyone recommend a Christmas candle? I usually buy the White Company Winter one but fancy a change this year. I’m not keen on Yankee candles as they all smell too sweet to me. I like spicy / snowy/ pine tree / Frankincense type smells.

TalkingOrmer · 03/08/2019 16:42

@Ratbagcatbag could you link to those letters please?

ChippyMinton · 03/08/2019 17:19

@queenofice I bought mine in a seaside resort, as you do Smile but found it online here but no idea whether the website is any good I’m afraid.

ChippyMinton · 03/08/2019 17:20

My favourite candle is a gingerbread scent.

ChippyMinton · 03/08/2019 17:23

Oh, I have also been making a quilt pattern called #holidaypatchworktrees...

One year I will do Christmas in July lol.

Ok summer, off you pop I want to plan Christmas
QueenOfIce · 03/08/2019 17:26

Thanks @ChippyMinton I'll take a look.

@missyB1 try SpaceNK shimmering spice, you'll have to be quick though they sell out pretty quickly. Christmas Eve I think they go on sale and they are then half price so I buy 2 each year for the following Christmas. I think they're around £18 each full price. Smell much nicer than the WC Winter which I also love.

Now this is the sort of thread I like to see!
I have the Yankee Candle Christmas Eve in my wax melter, not even sorry for it! 😂

QueenOfIce · 03/08/2019 17:33

Welcome Fairy! I burnt Yankee pumpkin spice up until June, if it's grey outside it's autumn and winter in my house!

OP posts:
missyB1 · 03/08/2019 18:11

Thanks @QueenofIce the space nk candle is pretty and it’s a bit cheaper than the WC one.

Thegracefuloctopus · 03/08/2019 18:22

I can't bloody wait for Xmas! DS will be 14 months though so tree will probably only be decorated from half way up! I love the Xmas markets, gift wrapping, planning the lunch (2nd year cooking my own!). Also helps that work have asked for Xmas leave requests too. Ah I cannot wait. Another one for strictly starting the countdown too

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 03/08/2019 19:24

When my DC were little , the Countdown was 'Merlin ' then 'Dr Who ' (with a Dr Who Christmas Special) or later years 'Atlantis' then 'Dr Who'

I love Halllowe'en and Guy Fawkes and my DD co-ercing me into putting her winter bedding on for Nov 1st Xmas Grin

CocoLoco87 · 03/08/2019 19:38

I love Incandescent candles. They do an orange & cinnamon one and a spiced apple & pumpkin. They're lovely! I want to have a whiff of the Champagne Rhubarb one as I haven't smelt that yet.

CocoLoco87 · 03/08/2019 19:40

I am a bit worried that my naice Christmas planner has been put away with the Christmas decs though!! Need to have a hunt for it. I do love a list or 20
