Its july

Aquamarine1029 · 20/07/2019 22:35

A robot vacuum. Vouchers for house cleaning. Meal deliveries. A tablet (if she uses the internet, obviously).

Didiusfalco · 20/07/2019 22:35

What are her interests? Does she garden, read, paint, visit places do crafts? I would start with what she likes to do and go from there.

OhEliza · 20/07/2019 22:36

Big you can hide the Christmas topic if it doesn't interest you. Or just not reply.

OP my grandma of a similar age loves personalised things. Last year a mug with a picture taken the Christmas before of all the family went down really well.

MyGirlDaisy · 20/07/2019 22:40

Goodness you are organised! I buy for my parents who are in their 80/90s the following:

Home made hampers - lovely food items they wouldn’t treat themselves to in a normal food shop
Magazine subscriptions
Voucher for afternoon tea
Theatre tickets and transport them there and back
Books
Box sets

Yes it is July but this is a Christmas board... you don't have to respond and due to being on maternity leave this year I have to plan ahead...

Thank you everyone for your suggestions.. interests are limited but she enjoys seeing family, meals out, films and sweet treats.

Might go for a photo calendar of her grandchildren, sweet/treat hamper, Lion King movie dvd (she loves Disney) and a meal/afternoon tea out

I have the same issues with my Gparents.
I get them the Tower of Treats from Costco
www.costco.co.uk/c/Festive-Tower-of-Treats-in-Small-Pattern-Design/p/158435D
It contains fudge, cookies and other goodies but looks rather decadent.

One present that's gone down very well with both old and young, is a really cosy fleecy blanket for snuggling under while watching TV etc.

Mine have come from Edinburgh Woollen Mills - called Sherpa Fleece IIRC.

twilightcafe · 22/07/2019 11:09

Presents my mum has loved:
A shredder
Fleecy 'teddy bear' blanket from Dunelm
Mug with a photo of the grandchildren on it
An artificial orchid. I have one in my office and too many people have asked me what I feed it Grin

No idea what to get her this year; so all ideas welcomed.

SuperPixie247 · 22/07/2019 15:19

I got my Nan a Bloom and Wild year long subscription for her 80th - flowers delivered every month for a year. I don't know what your budget is but they also do 3 month and 6 month subscriptions.

Spam88 · 22/07/2019 15:24

My DH's nan always just ends up with loads of chocolate and biscuits, despite being diabetic...

Photo gifts always go down well, especially a digital photo frame we got one year. She likes watching the birds and squirrels in the garden, so any new feeders/houses are always good. She also likes sparkly jewelry so we've bought her a few bits over the years.

mogtheexcellent · 22/07/2019 15:29

Turtle doves have got a sale on at the moment. Ive just bought fingerless gloves for my DM and DMIL.

Gingerkittykat · 22/07/2019 15:45

Vouchers or even better tickets to take her out for a meal /cinema trip/ theatre trip/ day out. Far better to make memories than give unwanted stuff for the sake of it.

SlatternIsTrying · 22/07/2019 17:20

I just had a quick look at the Sherpa fleece from Edinburgh Woollen mill is currently in the sale.

ysmaem · 22/07/2019 17:40

I usually get some personalized stuff for my grandma. Last year I got her a personalized apron and year before that her family tree.

RoarkesMagicCoats · 22/07/2019 18:42

A plug in fleece throw that warms up? Photo collage on canvas of her favourite photos of all the family?
