Work Christmas Party - best and worst

I've just booked a venue for my office of 100 people and want to come up with some ideas to make it extra special. Ive got a good budget so people won't be paying anything towards it, obviously there will be plenty of food and drink but what would you hate to see in terms of entertainment? What things have really worked at Christmas parties you've been to before?

Worst one was last year. A corporate mixed do in a local hotel. Full of young people and a dj doing party games between courses.

Best was a themed murder mystery Indian night. We were sent an invitation and asked to dress up which all 30 of us did. When we got there no one else had bothered and we got funny looks. We sat through the 'murder' and dinner and no sigh of anything to do with India. The hotel had sent us the wrong invitation! Luckily everyone found it funny, we didn't offend anyone and we got free drinks all night.

DH works for a large company and his best one was at the Harry Potter Studios. I was so jealous of that! I’ve only ever had pay-your-own substandard pub Christmas dinner ones, which are better than the ones at my current job as everyone has decided not to bother 😢.
