Without meaning to be rude isn't this a bit like asking for suggestions for a 40yr old woman? Or a 27yr old man?? Isn't the first thought, What are they interested in?! I know three 16yr old boys, one is into Warcraft, crystals and reading, one is into football and cricket (& sports generally) the other is a game fanatic... You can't just lump all 16yr is boys in together!

What is he into? If you don't know at all I would go generically boring and get an Amazon token!

Yes I know what you mean! I saw a Christmas thread come up in Active yesterday and just posted my question on a whim as I know the posters on here always have really helpful ideas, but I do understand what you mean about them all being different so can't lump together.
This boy is someone I used to childmind and I like to drop round with a gift on his birthday and at Christmas - from what I always gather he is into gaming and football but know he already has the computer games he wants from his parents so was hoping for some inspiration for something a bit different he might like and enjoy using.
