I have just had a hot shower, new pajamas on, climbed onto my bed surrounded by my new books ( yes, I’m a book a holic!) , I’ve wrapped myself in my gorgeous new cashmere blanket and in stuffing a turkey sandwich down my neck helped along with a large cup of tea. ( When I say turkey sandwich it has shitloads of butter, mayo, stuffing, turkey, cranberry and pigs in blankets stuffed into a crispy roll) . I’m watching Eastenders.

This is WITHOUT DOUBT my Favourite part of the day. Every year .

What is your favourite bit?

Today hearing my 4 year old squeal with excitement and shout for her granny to come look when she realised she had a stocking this morning. We do presents on Christmas eve (husband is not British) and I'd hesitated to do a stocking after the main day was over but she really loved it.

That sandwich does sound nice though OP

Normally my favourite part of Christmas and my favourite day of the whole year is Boxing Day. No cooking to do as everyone eats leftovers, the children are happy playing with new toys and we never make any plans for Boxing Day so there's no pressure to be anywhere or do anything.

This year we are moving and the packers are turning up tomorrow so it will not be a nice day!

Good luck with the move - you’re a braver woman than I am!
Moving on Boxing Day? Do you have to pay the removers double time??

DD was totally expecting to have to save up for what she actually wanted. Because we're strict with buying big stuff. But she's been an absolute angel this year so we bought her a bigger than normal thing. So she opened her big present and actually squealed. Total surprise and she's chuffed.

My all time favorite was playing charades with my whole family. I'm thousands of miles away from them and my uncle, who was always my charades buddy, passed away. I really miss that.

Seeing dh play with his new VR system, he was so excited and not expecting it at all. Dd and ds have been pretty good too so been a good day

All of it to be honest, today was brill. Kids loved everything our dinner out was beautiful and my children laughed and squealed all afternoon whilst playing with their toys and grandad Smile

Every year we do the same thing but today just went smoothly, i think its nicer as the youngest is at a better age for presents and understanding.

Yes!
After the huge effort to feed 12, my favourite part is after everyone has gone, about 8pm. Nice cup of tea and a turkey sandwich.
I'm too run ragged to eat lunch on Christmas Day. Boxing Day is more chilled.

DumpTrump · 25/12/2018 23:25

@FenellasRedVelvetDress No we're in the US so tomorrow isn't a holiday, just a normal day.

FoxInABox · 28/12/2018 22:20

Oh yes I love that moment when you can just relax- pop a Christmas special on the tv after a nice bath in a new bath oil, get into new pjs, and relax with a baileys and snacks. We always go for a walk around the park before dinner too which I always love.

I watched The Dead Room on Christmas Eve and went to bed raging because it was really predictable ( doubly raging because I really liked Crooked House , also by Mark Gatiss )

Waking up on Christmas morning , after putting my DC stockings in their rooms (DC are 19 and 16) DD said she had to switch off the lights on the stocking , she was woken up at 3am by them Xmas Grin

Spent a while dozing, thinking "Its Chhhhrrriisstmasss and sending psychic thoughtwaves to DH to make me coffee

JurassicGirl · 29/12/2018 11:26

I love most of the day but I feel lovely & calm when the dc go to bed (in lovely new pjs, after reading one of their new books) .

I always worry that something bad will happen like, we'll be burgled on Christmas eve, get a sickness bug or any other unlikely but devastating scenarios!

I look forward to Boxing Day so the dc can enjoy their toys, we can eat leftovers & lots of tasty snacks.

DH is off work until new year so it's a really cozy fun time.
