Is it okay to wrap alcohol?

But a gift bag is easy for any gift, not just alcohol. On that basis, why ever bother wrapping a gift?

I have wrapped this year (due to not wanting to venture out for bottle bags) but have finished around the neck of the bottle with a red glittery bow and gold bell. They look lovely..

Wrapping is fine. And it's cheaper than buying a gift bag if you already have plenty of wrapping paper.

Why would it not be ok?

I wrap mine for drinking on the street. Saves awkward questions.

Because my mil is all fancy with her wrapping, is very precise and has hundreds of different types of paper, bags and tags. She likes bows and ribbons too.

I’m worried whether she’ll think I’ve not put the effort in or something.

Definitely not OK to wrap it when you could be drinking it!

This is my principle - gift bags where possible.
But interestingly when trawling the charity shops for gift bags there were 100s of bottle bags and nothing else. I guess everyone who receives bottles, never plans to give any.
